Hi
Breeding any dogs is not an easy task the costs of the tests and health checks do not come cheap and any good stud dog owner will ask for them to be done .
as well as all the info from other posts .
I wanted another pup for the ring so bred a litter myself it would have been a lot cheaper to buy another pup ,you also have a Responsibly to find good homes for the rest of the pups with contracts and that you can keep in touch with them all 2 1/2 years later and I still know where and what my pups are upto.

I used Aritaur Histabraq he is a excellent dog just look at all the work he has done .0 -
Hi,
Thanks for the replies! If I don't breed him, would you suggest neutering?
Dobiesmon - how old is your dog?0 -
Hi,
He is 2 1/4 - brown. We don't do any shows or obedience, I haven't got the details of his sire here they are at home, but they were from a long line of show dobes as well.
Would you advise me to nute him? Or even consider shows at this late stage?0 -
When you get home, have a look at his pedigree - there should be an even number of CC on both the female and male sides - my bet is most of them will be on the male line - ie, he comes from 'pet' dogs who haven't been shown to get any idea of how good their formation is. Stud dogs, that have been shown and got CC's are plentiful, so why should a female dogs owner go to a stud dog who hasn't been proven in the show ring or at stud? Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

Yes I would advise all dogs to be neutured, especially if you aren't planning on breeding from him.
Prevents *accidents* happening!
Should stop him from wanting to escape at the meer whiff of a dog on heat
Speak to your Vets though and research when is good a good age to neuteur your dog.0 -
My experience as a trainer and working with behaviour cases actually makes me inclined to say castration can cause more problems than it solves, medical as well as behavioural...........Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

That is what someone else told me as well and he has no problems at the moment so wouldn't want to cause any!0

Dont forget that putting your dog to stud can also cause HUGE behavioural problems. Some dogs once they get "a taste" so to speak become a nightmare and become unmanageable as house pets0
