Just in case you haven't checked... You should have a Ford Audio Systems guide (as well as the Mondeo Owner's Handbook) - dealers usually write the code in, just inside the front cover, although this bit may have been detatched if you normally keep the docs in the car.

Well went to Halfords and spoke to a nice man .He said he knows what I need but didn't have any prongs in stock or any he could lend me .

He suggested that I could try bending 2 bits of a metal coathanger into u shapes and that should do the job.

    It doesn't !!

I am going to have to try and get these prongs from somewhere ,will try a neighbour in the morning.

ManAtHome, I am sure I had the code once upon a time but has disapeared.

I would check your handbook(s) first as this will cost you nothing if you have the code and make sure you understand the bit about how you enter the code, it's not done as you think it would be. If you get it wrong more than a few times I think the radio will be locked but it's not rocket science.

If you do not have the code, then you will need to get the serial number from the radio. Take it out with the prong things and write it down EXACTLY as it appears.

If you want to buy the prong things they are easy to use, just put them in the two holes either side of the radio and then whilst gripping them pull the radio out.

The code for each radio is based on the serial number and if you look on eBay you will see loads of people selling the software to get the code from the serial number. This will usually be sent to you (once you have paid your 99P or whatever) as a small attachment. I bought one a while ago but couldn't get it to work so I just emailed the guy and gave him the serial number, he then decoded it for me and told me the code.

Whatever you do don't waste a load of cash at a Ford dealer doing this.
  • You can remove the radio with four small screwdrivers, thin nails or thin metal skewers.
The software to work out the unlock code can be downloaded from http://rapidshare.de/files/6924351/Ford_M_serial_calc.exe.html
I know it works but it is a long time since I have used it myself, if you have any problem with the software pm me and I will try to sort it out for you.
Most software of this type can be obtained free on various internet sites and it is annoying to see people trying to profit from other peoples efforts by selling it on ebay

Thanks very much for this info.
When you stick in the prongs (whatever I can get hold of ) what do you do to make it come out ?. I did have a go with a metal coathanger in the holes bit nothing seemed to budge.

You need different clac's for different models of radio, it all depends what the first few letters of the s/n is on the radio. If you have the s/n i can give you the code, for the prong's just pop down to motor save you should be able to get them for about 2.99

  • The metal coathanger bent into a U shape will do the trick. Make sure each prong is about 5 cm long, give it a good firm push into the holes (maybe a GENTLE tap with a hammer) and then pull them to either side ie left one, pull left and the right one, pull to the right. At the same time you need to pull outwards too. Alternatively get someone to put their fingers int the cassette slot and pull stereo out, being careful not to pull the facia away from the casing (they are very fragile).

Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.

Right I have got the prongs as the coathangers wouldn't do it > I now have got the serial number. Prongs only £1.10 from the Ford dealer so not too bad,
I have tried to download the files to get my own code but having problems.Cundall I have sent you a pm with my serial code so hopefully you can help .
