Keeps crashing

Hallo

I have Windows XP Home Edition. Last couple of days, I keep getting thrown out of what I am looking at, sometimes I can call it back up as I use FF and it asks me if I want to restore the session. But often, just closes down, and I have to restart as the internet doesn't work unless I restart.

Any ideas?

Run a full virus check ... if don't have this you are in trouble ... you can get AVG http://free.avg.com/

Please don't say that, I lost everything a couple of months ago, couldn't get back onto the computer at all and I did a F11.....lost everything....

I have CCleaner and McAfee security system but it is now telling me it has run out and I need to subscribe, but its not cheap. I had better install that AVG thing, hope it works.

If you have a blank disk or flash drive put all your important stuff on it......
Uninstall McAfee install AVG and do a full scan and CC.
Did you install anything or change anything just before it started playing up?

I have just uninstalled McAfee and installed AVG. I started to do a full scan but looks like it will take ages. I will do it when I log off tonight. Don't remember installing anything, though it does seem to tie in with a pop up of McAfee saying my subscription had expired....I hope this sorts it out.

    Thanks.

Could it be possible you have some sort of hardware problem? Bad memory?
However I expect that would not just affect FF though.
I think AVG scans anything which is running so it will pick up any virus as soon as it
tries to run, so if that is correct you should be fairly safe as what is not running can do no harm. Anyway McAfee does not seem to have been much use to you if
you lost all your data with it running!!

    Have you checked the drivers?

If they are male, the problem lies elsewhere.

If they are female, then that probably explains all the crashing.
