  • If you want to spend under £100.. this seems a bargain:

That's a much better camera than the samsung, and only 76 quid in amazon. It has face detection, 7mp, 3.4x zoom.

Whilst it might not be everyone's cup of tea, this has been brought to my attention. Samsung Digimax S760 Digital Camera it is much cheaper than I anticipated spending.

The most important part of a camera is the lens. Stick with the well known camera manufacturers for the best results. Check here for users reviews.

Spotted a deal on another forum.
Pentax Optio V15 for under £80 delivered. Dixons.

Its funny as usually when you search for a camera model on the internet loads of reviews pop up. This model has lots of shop links and NO reviews. Even the Pentax website doesn't admit it exists. I guess its an older model rebadged and knocked out at the cheaper price to get a bit of extra mileage. Or its a model never released in the UK.

Anyway the specs are half decent despite it only having 8Mpixels.

I have Pentax film equipment and a Samsung DSLR (rebadged pentax) and they're good. For the price I'd have a look at the specs and consider.
    • Picture Resolution - 8 million pixels
    • Optical Zoom - 3 x
    • LCD Screen Size - 3"
    • Memory Type - SD
    • Face Detection
    • Motion Picture Recording
    • Digital Zoom - 4 x
    • Continous Shooting Mode
    • USB Connection
    • Type of Battery - Lithium-Ion

I am looking for a digital camera. I'd like one which is under £150, has about 8 mega pixels, face recognition (whatever that is) and anti shake.

It is for my daughter as a gift. She has requested these features.

Before I start trawling photographic shops/sites, I wondered if anyone is a user of such a thing.

Have you found one yet and what is it. The reason I ask is I am looking to buy another camera with exactly the same spec as you?

  • i got a Fuji S6500 about 6 months ago for under £150 from amazon.

it is a great peice of kit. Good zoom, face detection. Don't get too hung up on the mega pixels. The quality of sensor is much more important.
