Have you thought about going on a sim only plan, where there is no contract and can cancel with 30 days notice, you can get 600 X-Net mins and unlimited texts plus unlimited free calls to any O2 numbers for just £20 per month ?

if you go on 02 pay and go. you can recieve unlimited calls and txts every month, all you have to do is top up 30quid a month. plus it doesnt actually take the 30quid off you for this service, you can spend it however you like, unlike most bolt ons wick are a waste of time and money. i top up 15 a month and get 1000free minutes every month0

There are plenty of 12 month deals on o2 if you search the web - directly o2 may not be selling them on their own web site but you can get 12 months contracts for less than £15 a month.
As an o2 customer myself, I renewed for 12 months at end of June - come next year - if they tell me no more 12 month - they will lose my custom.0 -
Didn't know you could get back minutes for topping up until last week, have registered but awaiting to see how much extra minutes I get. But the website is currently advertising the sim only (simplicity) for £15 a month with 600 minutes and unlimited texts, and you get to cancel anytime if you give them 30 days notice as someone said earlier. Please God if you can't make me rich, make my friends poor!0

As regards phones the Nokia 1208 is adequate for a basic phone - i had one myself and tho a bit plasticky it is small and reliable. The Samsung e250 is OK. You can also use your tesco mobile sim in any O2 locked phone or any unlocked phone. But you cannot use an O2 SIm in a tesco mobile phone, nor is it easy to unlock their dedicated phones0
