I do understand that there is a difference between a bank and a casino and maybe not the correct analogy. I would expect though if I was to leave money in a casino or poker ( There is a difference by the way) account that it would remain there.

As for this being similar to a chain mail or similar this is not the case here because their own Administrator on 888's own forums has said as much in his post and that it would be looked into and that they have now returned the chaps money so it is not a flase statement.

I posted it just incase others here have the same account or similar. This is the warning forum isn't it?

I also think this is tantamount to theft as already alluded to in a earlier post. How can you justify 10% of this chaps ba;lance as a admin fee for a dromant account and charge someone 10% of say someone who has 10$ in their account, surely the administration fee for dormant accounts costs the same to administer them no matter how much is in there? Also they are earning interest on that money spo would be silly to do that to a customer, hardly the best business acumen regardless what the T&C's state

:T That's more like it! I can see why you think a warning may be needed, but I would say the warning should be 'don't agree to things without reading them' and 'why not occassionally check to see if anybody's nicked your money' - I do that with my bank accounts, never mind money I leave at bookies.
I might agree that the T&Cs. are excessive, but so what? Don't accept them if you don't agree with them. It really pee's me off when people complain afterwards - CHECK FIRST!
Also I'm no legal expert, but I'm pretty sure it's not theft if someone has told you in advance they're taking your money!

You're signing up with a standard form contract that there is no potential to negotiate, then there's this term which is potentially unfair. There's clearly valid discussion to be had on the topic rather than just "you agreed to the terms so you can't complain." Most of these sites are based in Gibraltar though so trying to apply UK law such as the Unfair Contract Terms Act would be pretty pointless.

Gib law is virtually the same as UK law so cannot see that it would be to difficult to bring a case although the law in Gib takes far longer

Your obviously on a different wavelength to me. My point is not"you've agreed to the terms so you can't complain" but DON'T agree to the terms if you don't like them - or probably more accurately don't whine about it afterwards if you can't be bothered checking what you've agreed to.

    This reminds me of NOCHEX.

When I signed up my money remained in there indefinitely. I only ever used it occasionally.

NOCHEX changed their T&C's without telling anyone and cleared out the "Dormant accounts", mine included. I didn't even get an email to mention it.

I only realised by reading a forum post from someone saying they had lost money in their account.

Only a small amount in comparison (£11) but still rattled me enough to search the internet for other people in my position.
Guess which website I found with a whole chain of victims shouting their disgust????

Yup! MSE, and been here ever since.

T&C's can change after signing up, these faceless people play by different rules but seem to get away with it.

No-one on this thread as fallen foul of this term. The OP says it's only a warning but I reckon he really wanted a discussion on the fairness of it (again a valid discussion to have) and changed his mind after the responses so no-one here fits into the group who are whining about something they've agreed to. I'd be pretty confident this term would be found unlawful under the Unfair Contract Terms Act.
