Orange Broadband - Problems with using your own router

Hi everyone,
I'm just interested to know if anyone else has had problems with using their own router with orange broadband?
The problems I had was:
- the internet was slow
- it kept on dropping the connection or just not working at all
Has anyone had similar problems? If you have I may have a solution to this. After doing a bit of research I found that the problem seems to be with the standard MTU value of 1500 that most routers use. Now I found that changing the MTU value to 1492 on my router actually solved the problem. Other people have found that setting the MTU value above 1501 seems to solve the problem as well, although I would recommend setting it to 1492.
After changing the MTU value to 1492, I noticed significant increases in the speed an realiability of the internet.
To change this value on your router, you need to:
1) Access your routers web interface, for example, by typing 192.168.1.1, or something along thoose lines, into your web browser
2) Login to access your routers settings
3) Locate and access the 'WAN' configuration section
4) Under WAN settings you should be able to change your MTU
This should solve your problem.

LOL, I had a year of hell with Orange. Constant dropped connections, no service, sh1te customer service. I solved the problem by dumping Orange. I am now with a decent provider.0
