capital one free phone number

up until about a week ago i have been using the free phone number for capital one to check my balance but it is now saying you have to phone another number - not free phone! just wondering if there is any other numbers for capital one that are free phone where i can check my balance?
i dont have my card anymore - cut it up - so i cant register online!

Tell them your card has become 'creased' and you're worried it won't work. Ask if they'll send you another one.

If you dont have your card, how do you check your balance over the phone as they need the card number to check it. When I registered online I didnt have my card handy, just used the number from my last statement

as i have my card number wriotten down, Have managed to get a free phone number now thanks all
