Nationwide finally admit losing my application

Well finally after 14 weeks, the inevitable has happened.
Nationwide have confirmed my worst nightmare. They have no record of receiving my application form, transfer form or 4 ISA certificates (internal transfer of 'members isa bonds' to a single 'fixed rate' isa).
The same goes for my wifes application, though she has 3 ISA certificates - so thats 7 ISA certificates lost somewhere in Nationwides ISA system..great.
This has only come to light due to my perseverance. If I followed their advice of being patient, I would be waiting until Christmas with no positive outcome.
They have advised me and my wife to reapply (backdated of course) through the branch again and expect to wait upto 4 months.
Are they having a laugh????? I am really cheesed off.
Sorry vent over!

I'm really sorry to hear this. I don't know if you've read the other NW threads but I've been through hell and back with this lot. But not as bad as this!
It should not take 14 weeks for them to realise they can't find your form. That is obscene. You should complain to NW and give them a reasonable amount of time to explain why it took them 14 weeks to confirm they can't find the form. If they can't explain this within 56 days then take the matter to the financial ombudsman.
There's been a few bits and pieces in the financial press about NW but it's obviously not hitting home with them. A bit more pressure from the journos is in order I think.0 -
Yes obscene it is, and I know im am not the only one.
My letter of complaint is written and printed, waiting to be sent on Monday.
We shall have to wait and see.0 -
I bet whenever you see that NW tv ad you think that the obnoxious manager is one of them and not from a rival bank/building society. They certainly seem to have that same sort of attitude when it comes to dealing with customers.0

Absolutely. They nicked the idea using their own staff off Halifax (or maybe Halifax nicked it off them? Whose advert was first?)0

I've had a similar upset. Was transferring an ISA from Nationwide and NS&I to A&L.
A&L state that the forms were sent off ok. NS&I ISA transferred over fine, no sign of Nationwides'..Gave both a call every month to chase it up. A&L state they sent it off, Nationwide state they haven't recevied any application from A&L. They said it could of 'got lost in the post', and that I should submit another form to A&L. So after all that time I've lost out on the extra interest I could of earned and the inconvenience of having to chase the matter.
Would this be a good cause for complaint or will they just blame it on the mail system for not delivering?0 -
I had the same from Nationwide.
They admitted to losing my ISA transfer form.
I doubt very much this is true.More like it's stuck in a pile at their Swindon office!
I had a reply to my complaint. They offered me £50.Told them that was an insult and am taking it further.
Am talking to someone this afternoon about it.
Don't forget that if you take your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman, it will cost the organisation £450...If it's not a bargain, it's not worth buying

Interesting... I put in applications from myself, and O/H. We both had 2 ISAs with other providers each. I was told these couldn't be merged, so we'd end up with two separate accounts.
My info was submitted first... O/H's a few days later. We had letters for all 4 accounts to say the money had been sent to NW.
O/Hs accounts are open (after 3 months, as opposed to the predicted 10 days) and I have heard nothing. (Shortly before O/H's paperwork arrived, I popped in and was told there was a backlog, and interest was to be backdated)
I might go back in!
Has anyone had proof that the interest is being backdated? There was nothing on the paperwork we received to indicate this.My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Just a quick update...
Wrote a firm complaint letter to Nationwide.
Resubmitted application/transfer forms for myself and O/H at branch.
Received general response from Nationwide within a few days - will investigate complaint .
Received all 7 ISA closing statement within 5 days. Checked online and all ISA's have been closed.
So just waiting for the FRISA's to be opened now and backdated - fingers crossed.
All I can say is, if you are in a similar situation, write a complaint letter and resubmit application/transfer forms as the chances are the delays are down to them losing forms.
Goodluck everybody !!!0
