Thanks very much for all your help. :T I'll investigate some cotton bags, and move the spuds from the pantry where it gets quite warm into the garage.
Thanks for the recipes Queenie, they all look yummy, especially the potato hotcakes, I will definately be giving them a go. :drool:0 -
Hi again
yet another question
i buy potatoes from the supermarket, and they always seem to grow eyes within a day or two. is this normal?? am i storing them wrong?
i have just started keeping them in an old pillowcase, as i was told they last longer if kept in darkness
any ideas?
TIA xI don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

What if your fridge is too small?
I have the same problem. I keep them in a cupboard so they're in the dark. At first I thought it was because I hadn't taken them out of the bag, but now I fear they'll develop into a forest. Do those big earthenware pots to keep them in work?'They can tak' oour lives but they cannae tak' oour troousers!'The Nac Mac Feegle0 -
eek- i hadnt been taking them out the plastic bag straight away
my problem is that i live in a tiny flat, that is warm throughout with no cool dark places to hide my tatties in
would keeping them in a cotton pillowcase, in the bottom of the fridge work??
i'll also make an effort to buy dirty spuds from now onI don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

I always take mine out of the plastic bag, and put them in a box without a lid in a cupboard. They last fine that way. Here I go again on my own....0

I am going to dig up my (hopefully) bumper crop of potatoes this week.
Any ideas on best way to store - I dont want to buy potatoe sacks as it will erase any economies I might have made by growing my own.
Thanks0 -
No answer lily but I need to do the same so I'm watching the answers0
