I don't see any outstanding deals from dell at the moment.

    http://www.dmxdimension.com
    http://www.wizmarkcomputers.co.uk
are the two main "deal scouters" for Dell stuff.

Both refer you to deals on the Dell website.
    Browse for yourself.

I like the idea of the vostro dell laptops, do you have to be a business to buy one?

    Hi

I've just fried my 4 year old laptop. One of the kids left it plugged in to the socket during a thunder storm a couple of nights ago - the laptop was swicthed off, but still got fried. GGGRRRRR!

Does anyone know if I might be able to get a replacement laptop with Windows XP on it for under £300?? I need XP as I have a craft robo that isn't vista compatible.

    Thanks

Buy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning

Dell still ship laptops with the option of XP. Whether you'll get this for £300, I'm not sure.
Maybe you could use the license from your old laptop (assuming its not locked to that laptop)
Is your laptop def. fried? Sometimes an electrical surge will just corrupt the bios settings (granted, a lightning strike carried more power), which can be fixed by removal of the bios battery. If you don't feel comfortable taking it apart, you can try a repair shop.

They're selling Acers with Vista in our local Tesco for less than 300 quid.

They're giving you 512 mbyte memory...
It's like selling you a car with no engine..
I just love Tesco. They cater for all types of idiot.
