Hi, my son-in-law is looking for a basic laptop sub £300.
My first question is, is it possible to find one and my second how good will it be?
It is only for light use, so doesnt need anything fancy just a 15 inch screen and a DVD writer and hes not too bothered if it has XP or Vista on it.
Has anyone any ideas on where too start?

When the round up days are over,
And the Boulevard’s white with clover,
For you old faithful pal of mine.

Have a look at an Asus Eee 700 or 9000

Bigger screen, though smaller hard disc drive.
Some scope for upgrading as there is a second bay for a separate hard disc drive.0 -
Thanks for your help everyone. Much appreciated, but what do you think of this for £249.99?

I would spend the extra £37 and go for the stronger processor. Its still within your budget and i think going for the absolute lowest level processor is a false economy.0 -

Thanks for all your replies, it appears that the comet £249 is now out of stock, so I might have to rethink, are there any reliable retailers online anyone can recommend.Old Faithful we roam the range together,
