newbie what ones do you ?

Hi Compers!

I started comping in the last 2-3 weeks and had a HUGE slice of beginers luck and won fab prize from NOTW :j (still waiting for cheque!)

Now initially I have only entered the comps ending thread... I understand that these comps are often running some time before they end on this thread, do you check that you can have multiple entries (as don't want to be disqualified !) - or do you mainly do dailies and comps ending -any tips greatfully received -

Generally, most people click on the "thanks" button when they have entered a comp, that way you can see if you have entered it by checking the thanks.

I also subscribe to each thread I have entered (or looked at and don't want to enter) that way it shows a blue tick on all the comps i have done in the main comps thread and saves time clicking to check if I have thanked it yet or not

I check thanks for everything to be honest... just to thank the OP for taking the time to post, whether I enter or not.

Sometimes I dont even click on a comp to even look, if I dont want to win it, so wont thank that poster.. but then I wont enter anyway so dont worry about it.

I do all the comps ending but took the time last week to go through every page and enter all the ones I wanted to enter.. so now when the comps ending list comes out I have mostly done the ones I want to enter.

I am quite up to date now.. and have been comping properly for 13 days :j

I only really use the comps ending lists to make sure I haven't missed any out, because I am up to date I just enter all the comps which are newly posted each day... so like you, when the comps ending list is posted I've already done them all.

I use the thanks button to keep tabs too

thanks polo i didnt know this how many thread do u subscribe too, also is it better if ya enter them as they are new or later on in comps ending??? also how can i delete the subscribed thread??

Thanks for all your replies so far, sorry to be dumb,where is the thanks button?
Is it easier to enter the ones as they appear, or then in anyones opinion easy just to enter the comps ending one (ie they are all complied neatly in one thread) and the dailies using thanks button?

Right so if I click the thanks button, and then go back inot the thread the thanks button has disappeared - so this will indicate to me that I have "dealt" with this comp?
Can I see this without clicking into the link?

read that thread the first day - it is excellent, perhaps now I am understanding it a bit more would be worth a re-read.

broadpaws, if you subscribe to the threads you will see a blue tick by the comps title and saves time clicking on a posted comp just to see if you have thanked it or not.

Bunn - to do this you will see "Thread Tools" at the top of the thread ^^^^^^^
Click this - a drop down menu appears.... click on subscribe... then ok.... then it redirects you to the thread you were viewing.

You can also "unsubscribe" by following the same directions as above.

Only board guides can delete threads, they tend to move ended comps into "game over" so once that has been done they wont show up with the rest of the active comps.

I would suggest rereading the post by VELVETGLOVE - it is extremely specific and when I first joined I found myself referring back to this.... I still do!!!!!! It is an extremely valuable tool

Like many I use the comp ending threads to check I havent missed any comps - I work my way through the god knows how many pages of comps which are posted. I tend to do them by months... i.e all the ones for august... then if I have time the next month and so on and so forth. This way I can still have a life away from mse and not worry I have a comps ending thread to complete!!!!!

Besides the end of the month and the beginning of the months are total nightmares, with sometimes hundreds and hundreds of comps ending listed! So try and get on top of these few dates prior to them coming round and biting you on the butt:D

If you subscribe to a few then click on the main comps board, you will see what I mean by the blue tick.
