I`m still waiting for a refund of bank charges I encurred when they asked for a DD from my A+L account on 1st July for £2500. They did this on the 4th July and then again on the 5th July. I have 5 Service Request Complaints running at present over this matter. This one-off technical problem has been admitted but they last told me it will take 4 weeks to investigate, still no refund of my bank charges as I write this !
Wish I hadn`t bothered with ICICI now (first problem in 18 months BTW)
Heres the last Email with names deleted !

A few months ago I was thinking of opening an account with them and decided to give them a ring because I had a couple of question.
The person I spoke to could not understand me and I could not understand him. This was the end off my dealings with them. First impression count.

Well it`s taken a month but they`ve coughed up my Bank Charges !
Please note I`ve deleted names, I had a phone call from ICICI telling me they had concluded their investigations. BTW the gentleman admitted that on the 4th July TWENTY ICICI customers had a duplicate DD request from ICICI bank to their linked accounts. This was a one off and he was not aware it has happened before.
I also asked what they had done to stop it happening again and he uncomfortably waffled that it could not happen again. Result I got £25.50 for postage and bank charges.

    Dear Mr. Deleted Name

We are sorry to learn of your dissatisfaction with the level of service you have received from us. Such feedback from our customers is always welcome and is vital to us in achieving our aims in customer service.

We have received your complaint regarding fund transfer into your HiSAVE account. We have investigated your complaint and found that on 1 July 2008 you placed an online request to transfer £2500 on 3 July 2008 into your HiSAVE account. Due to a technical problem the amount of £2500 was pulled into your HiSAVE one extra time on 4 July 2008 leading to bank charges in your linked account.

We regret the inconvenience caused to you and as discussed and agreed we have credited £25.50 in to your HiSAVE account towards the bank charges applied by your linked account bank.

Please do not hesitate to write to us at ukcustomerrelations@icicibank.com if you require further assistance in this matter.

Please note that, under terms of our Complaints Procedure, this is our final response. If you are dissatisfied with it, you may refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). You need to do this within six months from the date of this letter. For more information please visit the link http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/consumer/complaints.htm and read the guide ‘Your Complaint and the Ombudsman’. If you are unable to open a link please let me know and we will send you a hard copy of leaflet.

I never do DD's from my tied account. I always pay IN to ICICI from which ever account I have that happens to have the funds in it, that way there are no DD instructions that can be repeated.
  • I am trying to open a Hi SAVE account with ICICI bank (which according to me is the worst in custmer care ), they do not understand what customer care is all about!!!

I am really annoyed to the extent that I want to go to the directors of the bank, and what them to experience, what a pain dealing with their bank is!!!

Worst ever experiance. they try to waste their customers time, by sending them standard replies, without even reading their concerns!! I really want the bank to clean up customer care / customer operations officers who do not understand what customer care is about!!!

Its been a while I have been trying to tell them that the office address I have given to them as an address proof is same as the bank statement i have provided, its just that the department name has changed. I dont see why is that the concern as the address is the same. They have taken ages to understand my issue and have still not come back to me.

I have called their customer care and they say that they cant do much and the operations guys have to sort this out. I do not know as a customer where i need to go!!!

According to me, anyone who says that they have a good experiance with the bank, are the bank officals themselves, trying to clean their image. I have not herad of anyone in person who is happy with this banks services.

Dear bank officials , please please , do some real work !!!

I have no doubt that ICICI are safe, they just have the worst internet banking website imaginable.

Yeah, but in Nigeria's case, there are a LOT more factors to consider,
    ...
I wouldn't trust them with my bank details, because I wouldn't feel secure in the system to keep my details private. But that's just my opinion, and I may well be wrong.
HSBC and Bank of Scotland have lost data discs of customer information, much like several of our own government departments.
Doesn't mean you're wrong to be wary of Nigerian banks.

But the more institutions you spread your money across, the more chance there is of your details being "lost".

Very true - it's catch22 isn't it? However, diversity is important as well so the best you can do is pray
You've never seen me, but I've been here all along - watching and learning...
