I can also see your view point fatbelly, but I personally would not be prepared to invest this amount of money into a television set without the peace of mind of extra insurance cover.

LCD television sets are relatively new technology and with the potential for dead pixels and burnt out backlights, I am glad I do not have to worry about any of that until 2013!!

Hi, got this TV on its own for £700 at my local Sony Centre (price match Dixons online) with a 1 year warranty. I could of had it with the 5 year warranty for an extra £50 but declined as the extended warranty will only cover pixel issues if 5 or more go.
