NEC phone at Argos - good buy?

Was just in my local Argos where they had a stack of those NEC phones on 3 PAYG at £44.95, including £15 airtime voucher.

Is this a really good deal for teenagers who want camera phones for Christmas?

Advice much appreciated.

thinking the same. get this for my son, use the £15 for the first month, then get it unlocked so he can use his current vodaphone pay as u go sim in it.

can be unlocked but only by very expensive equipment atm (£1100) and cannot be done remotely

been looking around about unlocking this.
found that it can be done, they seems to be a way of unlocking it by just entering a code but this only seems to work for a time.
seen unlocking properly for £10 if take in or £5+post if mailed in.
