Time for a change

Ok Im with Tesco broadband at the moment paying 17.99 a month for half a meg - it is unlimited download - I want to change but have no idea who to choose - Im looking at toucan are they any good?

  • I believe Toucan are a reseller of Tiscali; whom are not meant to be very good (ie. the most complained about ISP in the UK according to the ISPA site).

what sort of service was looking at changing to?

do you want to go faster for same price?
do you want a capped, or unlimited service?

Have a look at www.ispreview.co.uk and also www.adslguide.org.uk to see what the various rates are.

Then go back to Tesco and say you would like a better offer. I did that with NDO. Was originally on normally 512kb at £25 a month. Managed to negotiate to £200 for a year on 2MB with 10Gb download limit.

  • You can definitly get a better deal (lower costs and faster speeds elsewhere) - but the thing that you have to consider is that Tesco do not offer MAC's (this is what allows you to switch providers easily).

It may be good to put pressure on them to introduce MAC codes, as I can't see any reason why they aren't offering them - but in the meantime try and barter down their monthly cost if you are out of contract.

Do you know what your monthly usage looks like?
