Best to call their helpline - they are very good and will go through set up as long as its connected direct to a pc and not a router
  • I was told that you only use the set up disc once, but I have failed to set up on any other computer without ringing their helpline (which they charge for but will refund if it is a genuine query).

What did they tell you to do we were told to reboot the modem
  • I remember the reboot but they asked me to go into something on the computer, for the life of me can't remember msconfig? perhaps.

I think it's because the new computer doesn't recognise their device,

You could try going to control panel/system/devices and seeing if the device is showing up but really they should be talking you through the whole thing.

    Sorry, not much help

What you need to do is unplug the modem and then connect the cables upto your PC. Turn the modem back on and wait for the lights to settle down. Then start up your PC and you should be able to get online. It's the modem that is registered on the system not the PC connected to it so you hopefully shouldn't have any problems.

This is the way to get online if you have a network card already installed in your pc. For USB connections it can be slightly more complicated as in the post above.

Yep as above, you need to power off the modem before you swap the computers, if it's a straight ethernet connection that should be all that is needed to allow the computer to be picked up by the VM Modem.
  • Hi thanks to everyone my friend now has my old computer with the internet working :D
