heatwise & E-on

Anyone else on heatwise. I am and initially it was great £25 (6 years ago) per month. Now its £83 and my gas £7. It gives us a water boost twice a day and economy 7 at night. We have storage heaters. I just phoned e-on to try to cap but they told me I couldn't because of the tarrif I was on. Also if I wanted to change to a different tarrif then I would have to pay for a new meter to be installed. I'm confused to say the least. It was a really cheap option. Is it still or what. Anyone know?

Heatwise has never been a cheap tariff as you do pay more than you would if you had Economy 7. It gives you 10 hours instead of 7 hours so you are actually paying more. I would ring them again as I have never heard of anyone being charged to change the meter if you are in area. Maybe the person you spoke to was new. I would say that you can no longer afford to be on the heatwise tariff and you would like to swap to E7.
  • I have just moved into a rented flat. When I got here I found the previous tenant had gone to Eon and asked for the new meter to be fitted.

I have 4 readings on my meter. Normal, Heatwise Day, Heatwise Eve&Wknd and Heatwise Boost.

From what I've read, not all electicity suppliers support Heatwise/Economy10 style tariffs but some do.

If you want to transfer to a supplier that does not support it, then you will need to change your meter. The Energywatch web site states the following about Heatwise tariffs:

    http://www.energywatch.org.uk/your_questions/index.asp

"Consumer supplied on this tariff may encounter problems when trying to transfer (as not all companies support this tariff). Furthermore, to change to a different tariff, they may need to pay to have their meter changed."

Currently I am only using about 20 units per week on the normal tariff. I haven't used the immersion heater or storage heaters yet, so I haven't used the Heatwise tariffs yet. I have an electric shower and if I need hot water then I will just boil the kettle.

I'm sure I will need to start using the heaters when the winter closes in!

I hope the above helps you.

    This thread is interesting.

I've just moved into a new flat, which appears to be Heatwise or similar. The meter has 4 rates, but no details on which is which. One of the rates (rate 2) is just 0003, which confuses me.The Eon welcome letter just says "Standard Electricity" for the tariff, so I'm not totally sure if it is Heatwise.

It's all storage heaters/electric water heater/electric shower etc, no gas at all. It is actually wired up for off-peak use, with offpeak/peak water heaters and storage heaters, so I'm thinking it might be worth sticking with Heatwise and make sure the water/storage heaters only come on off-peak.

Any opinions on this? Going to ring Eon tomorrow and see what they say...
