Hmm, What if they chase me using a debt collector?

Hi All,
I hope I can find something useful here. . . .
I had an agreed overdraft with Natwest Bank of GBP200 and went over the limit by 27 pounds due to a 'timing error'. A direct debit was higher than I though it was going to be. I paid the difference quickly and went back inside my agreed overdraft. I was ok to pay the 'returned DD fee' but when they took 114 pounds from my account I was shocked and not in a position to repay this many charges! I spoke straight away to the customer services team who were extremely unhelpful to say the least.
I agreed with them eventually to repay these 114 pounds worth of charges but since then they have continually added charges to my account, so that today, they have passed my account to Wescot Credit Services a debt collector who are trying to claim 908.43!! From an initial DD that took me 27 pounds over my agreed limit and that was repaid within one week.
I am a single dad, living on income support temporarily until my daughter begins high school this september and unused to this kind of problem.
I have told wescot that I am unable to currently pay the amount they are asking each month and that I dispute the fact that I owe Natwest 908.43 but will agree to repay the agreed overdraft of 200. They are saying that they demand a minimum payment of 25 per month until the debt is paid in full.
How can this be right?? 700 pounds of bank charges for an unauthorised overdraft of 27 pounds?? I am running out of ideas and dont know what do do next, any ideas?
I read on your forum that I should ask them for a copy of the credit agreement, which I did and they referred me back to nat west who then in turn referred me back to wescot!!
hopefully yours
Jason

Hi,
My husband had a similar situation some time ago with the same company. I have found a template of a letter to Wescot on the web. He has not heard from them after sending this letter. I am posting it here, and you just need to fill in the gaps.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

To Whom It May Concern:
I acknowledge receipt of your letter ref. No.:p ..., in which you allege I have an outstanding balance of £:p.... That letter does not provide, or offer to provide, any evidence that I owe any outstanding payments to any parties involved. I request you supply me with all the evidence you have that I owe an outstanding debt. You can do this by raising a client referral with your client....
I regard your allegation with the utmost concern, as I am being asked to make a very important decision, which could very seriously affect my quality of life. I shall be grateful, therefore, if you advise me where, in law, does it state or allow evidence against a suspect to be deliberately withheld, following or during the process of an official demand for the payment of money.
Further, whereby failure to pay that money on demand will expose the person suspected of that offence to a possible court judgment/ decree. This, in my view, could be a criminal offence in itself, the offence of demanding money with menaces. It is also arguably a breach of my human rights in that I am being subjected to unreasonable and possible unlawful pressure by being placed into a ‘pay us now’ position. I am entitled, in law, to all and any evidence that I have committed the offence complained of before I pay any money to you and not just at court, but as soon as you issue me a Notice of Debt Collection.
I look forward to your response,

You are very welcome, Jason.
By the way, my husband has not heard from them since 2005. And I really hope this can work for you as well. You and your daughter need and deserve this money.
Yours sincerely,
