please can anyone help....

Is there anyway of having broadband in your home without having a landline?.......I already have a wireless router up and running but I am paying for a bt landline which is never used, just for the broadband.

I know of wi-fi broadband but this is not right for a multi-use household.

You are using the line for your broadband. It doesn't matter if you use a line solely for Fax, broadband, burglar alarm or even telephony, it's still a line to maintain and a connection to the network.

Other than Virgin cable (if a cabled area), satellite is the only other option but it won't be cheaper!

could use mobile broadband, though you'd easily go over the limits... though you'd need to find a router that can connect to the dongle....

If you use less than 5GB a month, then you may find this promotion of interest. 3 Mobile Broadband 5GB offer, half price at £7.50 a month. Beware if you go over the 5GB then it gets very expensive and of course you need to be in an area covered by a 3 3G service. (plus £12.50 quidco cashback)

Hi I live on a boat and dont have a landline but purchased the 3 dongle and depending on what usage you want it ranges from 10 to 25 per month. I didnt want to be tied into a contract so I purchased the dongle and it cost 50.00 and then I just top it up every month. The joy of this is that you get broadband speed and you can take it anywhere. Hope this helps.

Cool, that's handy to know! :) Didn't realise wireless broadband had gotten to the stage where it's actually worth looking at as an alternative to standard broadband!

It hasn't really because the usage limits are very small and when you exceed the limit you really PAY for it. OK for e-mail and a bit of light surfing but not a lot else.
