I thought that you didn't need a certificate for ISA's as they are tax free?
I'm not sure but I think I still need to include it on my tax return?

I don't include it on my SA form. You don't get CDTs for ISAs for the simple reason they are tax free.

You do not add your ISA to your tax return, it even mentions that on the form.:)

Had 2 accounts with Icesave, both closed before they went bust. Took several e-mails etc to get a tax certificate from them for 2007/8 tax year. Not kept track of how Icesave now operating anyone any idea of who to contact (phone or e-mail) to request tax certificates from new owners? Are thety still using old phone no's/e-mail addresses are have these all changed?
Same with bradford and Bingley account closed and not received tax certificate.

I'm doing it online, doesn't seem to mention it on there.

Truth is, I want the form to claim financial support for my degree where I have to show all my earnings in the last tax year, ISAs included. Makes it easier if I can have one of these forms rather than copy pages of bank statements. Nationwide were happy enough to send me a 975 for my ISA.
  • I was also wondering what to do about tax certificates for Icesave accounts.

I had a bond which matured just into the 08/09 tax year and am kicking myself that I did not ask for the tax certificate at the time but in the past Icesave had been good about sending them out at the end of the tax year so let it go.

I have another bond which matures beginning January so will be in same 08/09 tax year.

Imagine thousands of people are in this situation. Anyone got any info yet ?

They just sent me a maturity statement within a week of the closure of mine which states gross and net interest and says to retain it for tax purposes.

You must be on the privileged list. I've equally just had to ask their Bereavement Centre to provide (4) statements in respect of my Mother's estate. All, similarly, fixed term deposits ....... all others (current / variable Web savers etc) provided without request.
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !

Notwithstanding what other purposes you need the Certificate for .... you positively don't declare the interest from an ISA on an SA Return ...... online or otherwise.

Depending on the extent of your other income - you run the risk of generating an incorrect underpayment.

It's mentioned in the IR guide that is sent with the tax form it states
Exclude interest from tax exempt investments for example ISA's etc.
