When to cancel AOL?

I have used AOL for the past 8 years, but have finally had enough of them after loosing my internet connection repeatedly last weekend. To cap it all, 10 calls to their tech help line didn't solve the problem. So I requested a MAC code and signed up with BT option 1 yesterday.
But now I am wondering when I should cancel AOL? I don't want a gap in my internet service, and also don't want to end up paying double during an overlap period. I am out of contract with them.
Also, I get a free hub with option 1 which, I understand from one of BT's advisors, I can plug any phone into and use as a second phone line with another number. But after reading another post on this forum which mentions the price of a hub phone I am now wondering if this is right.

don't say anything to AOL after your BT connection is live - once you can connect with BT, phone AOL and make sure that they have closed your account.... if you don't, its possible that they will still bill you
there will be no gap, since you are using the MAC process - a gap will only happen if you tell AOL to cancel before you are moved over, as they will remove broadband from your phone line0 -
Make sure you get a cancelation code and they cancel your billing once you migrate as they continued to charge some people as shown here: http://www.dslzoneuk.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=11370
When I migrated to my new isp I telephoned them and made sure they knew I had left and got a referrence code to make sure I was never charged again by them.Kind Regards
