Strange things with Bank Account - Help Please

:confused: I have an account with Nationwide and have checked my balance online and by phone, it seems that everything I spent on my debit card on Monday or Tuesday of this week is nowhere to be seen, it is not in Temp processing and it has not cleared. It was quite a bit of money, ie Mobile Bill, Big Shop etc. Now I know that debit card payments usually go into Temp Processing very quickly, ie I can go to Tesco at lunchtime, come back check the account and the money will be in Temp processing already so why are these payments from Monday and Tuesday not showing ?, payments made yesterday and wednesday are showing in temp processing. I am very confused.

    I have just transfer money from flex to another flex account without any problems.However I haven't check whether my sister has received it yet though.

    I had a similar problem I paid my phone bill and did shopping last week, showed up as temp processing, then a day later the funds were back in my account. It then got taken about a week later. BTW I am with Yorkshire bank.

    Yes that is what is happening, very annoying to say the least, I have no idea how much I actually have left in my account, did you speak to the bank about it ?, I know they will take the money and I have no problem telling them about it, I just want them to correct it on the systems so I know what my real balance is

    Just spoken to my bank, they are saying it is a Visa processing problem, really really annoyed because i want to do my budget for the month but I dont know how much is in Temp Processing that is not showing.

    Yes, this has been happening quite regularly, of late.

    When I use my debit card, the available balance is reduced immediately.
    A day, or so, later, the balance increases by the same amount, giving the impression that the debit card payment has not gone through.
    Then, a couple of days later, it reduces again to reflect the true position.

    Fortunately, I keep my own records, so am not really affected by this; although it is annoying.

    The money still hasnt come out of my account, nightmare really, I roughly know how much there is to come out so have budgeted for it, but I know loads of people who just go to the cashpoint see the balance and take out what they can, tehy wouldnt even think that payments they made a week ago wouldn't have cleared.
  • Hi i made 2 payments with my card last mon and tues one was on the internet an another was at a chip an pin machine - there was a difference in my available balance and actual balance untill wed then the balance's matched. The payments are still not showing as cleared although i have checked the payment i made online an the company have received this . I contacted Nationwide (my bank) yesterday to be told there is nothing they can do as they can only trace bill payments or payments made through them, they said as its a card payment its up to the companys i paid to claim the money from my account. I know how much these payments total but think its really silly that you cant really do anything about it apart from sit tight - i mean a week later the payment should of cleared but when i checked my account no its still not been taken.

    Thanks though Daisymac at least you were told it is a visa processing problem which is more than i was told lol
