totally bewildered..
Hi,
Due to the recent hype re: increase in fuel charges I have to decide whether to cap or not to cap..
Facts:-
I am currently with southern electric...
For dec 07 - march 08 my bill shows I used a total of 1644 units
I get charged:-
8.82p per unit or(0.0882 if you prefer)
and
7.050p standing charge per day again or 0.0705
This bill was for 95 days..
Total inc V.A.T =£150
So therefore if I switched to dual fuel and capped with lets say Eon, my unit rate would increase to 20p per unit which means by bill would be
0.20 * 1644 unit = 328.80 + v.a.t = £385
therefore current = £150 - dual charge = £385 = I am obvisiously saving not capping...is that correct? even if prices did increase by 40%
can someone clarify if that is correct?? kindly double check my maths pls?
thanks in advance..

Hi xirokx (catchy name! how much is it worth in Scrabble?)
If you really are totally bewildered, then there really is only one answer: EBICO.
If you're still bewildered after switching to Ebico, then there really is no hope for you.
You might find a cheaper energy supplier elsewhere (depends on your level of usage), but you won't find much in the way of clarity, ethics or anything more than a token green approach. It all depends what's important to you, I suppose...

But can you not cap with your exisiting supplier? Do you have to switch?
I would suggest putting your figures into one of the comparison websites such as uswitch and seeing what comes back. You may be lucky and better off not switiching at the current time!Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0
