Don't know if theres any promotions now, I used to be a member and when I joined up bartered with them to reduce the joining fee!!This was a few yesrs ago though so don't know if they are stricter now, also I think it helps if more than 1 person is joining - eg, if we both join pls can we have a discount etc. BUT, some gym's close their membership in Jan as they get so many ppl joining at New Year, so u end up on a waiting list , then I would imagine you would have no chance of a discount.

I'm a JJB member (Royal Quays, Newcastle) and at our gym they sometimes run a "Bring a friend day" where you go for free to use the facilities and if you join on the day there's no joining fee for you and your friend gets 1 months free membership. I've also recieved a flyer through the door in ex's name saying bring this voucher for no joining fee and get february's membership free. Might be worth calling the gym and saying you had a flyer but can't find it?!
