HELP! Advice needed with changing tarriff on bills

Options
Hi, I have just been in touch with Southern Electric to discuss how my electric and gas payment plan was doing, as I am paying more too get rid of arrears. - Due to the initial payment being too low when I joined in sep 2006.
I was not sure what tarriff I was on and then noticed that on the first bills I had it said ....... Your Tarriff is 2010 fixed general domestic.

The customer services lady said no - it is domestic standard for gas and electricity. She said it looks like you changed tarriff after the last bill, although she said there were no notes about it. So I said all I did was up my direct debits for both after the last bill and that I had not changed tarriffs.

After looking on my last bill on one page of bill it says tarriff is fixed till 2010 and on the other page where it lists charges for bill period and payments etc it says tariff is general saver.

So what do I do now. I don't remember changing the tarriff from fixed (why would I) and she said there are no notes to say I did. But I could tell from her voice that they would not let me stay on the fixed 2010 tarriff.

I have to ring a different number tomorrow "to see what they can do for me"
(her words), so have I got a leg to stand on? ..... so to speak

Hmmm - I'm not sure to be honest, seeing as nPower for one is not honouring those customers that were switching over to them to the price protection they were offering...
  • Yeah but I am not switching - I am just disputing the fact that they are saying I switched tarriff last bill (which I don't remember doing - just changed the direct debit amount) If they have no signed document or note on their systems that prove I did this then surely they must honour my 'fixed til 2010' tarriff.
Any advice from anyone on what to do or say if they won't honour the fixed til 2010 rate - would be appreciated. Is there someone I could contact etc
