Sell or Scrap My Car?

  • have you not thought about advertising it as spares or repair and asking about £350 for it?
with the tax cashed in and put on sorn obviously lol

someone else could basically get it, take anything of any value off it (engine bits from a low mileage corsa will probably be useless to you if you get something else), then scrap it for £150-ish.

they could probably take the engine out and the scrap yard wouldn't bat an eyelid if it was taken in without it, must be worth it to someone with the knowledge and need for the parts?

they will probably haggle you down to £300 but hey still worth it lol
things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then ;)
BH is my best mate too, its ok :)

I trust BH even if he's from Manchester.. ;)

    :rotfl:

No. 12 is old for Vauxhall.

    :rotfl:

The low mileage may go some way to explain it, lots of standing around in the damp with no driving to dry it out. We don't know the location either.
  • let us know what you find to replace it, on the rust point i had a low mileage 11 year old citroen with no rust whatsoever, god i miss that car lol

Due to the high value of scrap at the moment there are a lot of people scouring ebay for cheap buy it now cars, buying them and then scrapping them and makeing a profit becasue people are not aware of the money that can be made.

I would stick it on ebay buy it now for £200 as it still runs but needs some work, the low mileage will attract people to it also. Yes you could break it up and sell the parts but that involves getting your hands dirty.

went on their siteseeing that they advertise 100-10000 for your car, spoke to a guy called luke told him about the car I wanted to scrap and he quoted me £80, I tried another company advertising with the same tactics but they at first offered £70. I called scrap-car.eu (aka sellrcar.co.uk if you google 07859 021150 you'll see all the guises they come under) to accept offer and to arrange collection on monday @ 3pm (it was a saturday). He claimed that sunday they were picking up in my area another car in the morning but I wasnt home. All very professional untill he passed me on to one of his driver. I text luke on the monday to confirm pick up, I recieved a call from one of his drivers @ 2.30 ish saying he wasnt going to make it for 3pm can I do tomorrow morning as he had another car to pick up. I said no but I'm here all afternoon so he said he would get back, claiming that the lorry can only take 2 cars and it was full. quote "If your not home you can leave the paperwork and keys for me and I'll put the money in an envelope for you, we are a big company you've seen our websites and in a few days you should recieve a certificate from the dvla saying it's demolished" I maybe stupid but not that stupid so I agreed to wait and meet tomorrow morning @ 8.30am, he offered me 8am before he picked up the other persons car in the same area but I said come after. He called me at 9.30 saying he would be there in 40 minutes to an hour! Anyway he got here and I popped bonnet on his request he stared talking about platinum in the catalitic converter?!? and he offered £50?!? So I asked to speak to luke the guy in the office and he's on the phone saying yes but my driver has told you why. After a lot of heated arguing he offered £60 saying he needed to make a profit, I said £70 bearing in mind they offered £80 and him saying "i've only got £60 on me"?!? I said how do I know that you guys do this all the time but got no response. The driver started to leave and I was asking for £70 but he wouldnt budge saying "all this over a tenner". He got in his truck (which by the way could only fit 1 car on and there was no other car on the truck from his so-called earlier appointment in the same area). He was bout to drive off and in frustration of waiting however many days (thinking I had made an agreement so should stick with it and just wanted to scrap the car) I said ok take it for £60 (no point or time to ask for £65 and he was making out it was absurd to ask for more). He got the car on truck asking me to tighten the belt cos he hurt his wrist?!? It seemed that once he had the car on the truck he started taking the !!!!! asking questions like "do you have a girlfriend"?!? why? "cos of the front suspension" oh ok As he filled in the from I was moaning under my breath saying I should have gone on ebay to which he replied "I think you got a good deal, I'm going to put it on ebay myself probably get £600 for it. I'll sell it back to you for £300" Yes very funny and as I walked away and he drove off he shouted "dont forget to check ebay tonight". There is a voucher on here saying we will pay 10% extra but i'll let you decide wether its just a ploy. Had I only said no go away and gone elsewhere somewhere a bit more professional! The real kicker is that on the sunday (a few days before car was picked up) I had the other company who offered £70 call me saying we got someone who'll pick it up for you now for £80 but I said no because I had made an agreement with these guys. And now i find this offer 10% extra on top of quote???
    never again!

firstly this is a very old thread, secondly if you weren't happy with the price why go through with the deal you weren't forced. You either wanted shot of the car or you didn't.
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.
