doodledo, grassroots has been ok for me today
vertigo is horrid.....thankfully it is a long time since I had anything like that, so keep your germs to yourselves please!! Although I could do with a few days at home catching up on sleep, I don't really want to be ill.....
I have declared my NSD - that makes 5 so far this month. I was hoping to have had a few more by now, but real life keeps getting in the way of moneysaving!! Well done on your NSD Hypno - I was looking back on my spending spreadsheet and realised I'd had one on Saturday and not even noticed - now that IS sad! Updated sig now.
Very pleased to have budgetted £25 for my shopping tonight and only spent £18.75!!!

NSDs are such a rarity for me that I am NEVER likely to forget I have had one
Well done on keeping the shopping so low - I haven't kept close enough tabs on my grocery budget this month, so I have NO idea how much I have spent until I go through the statements next week.........
I have to say, though, that the energy monitor we got from e-on is proving interesting - the children are very much aware of how much things are costing.....so I am very happy with that (even if we are sitting in the dark eating cold food, with 17 blankets for warmth)Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Can you share any fascinating facts from your energy monitor? What appliances are the most energy-hungry?Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

The energy monitor doesn't do individual appliances, but it does do the amount of energy we are using as a whole house - so we can see how much the usage goes up when the tumble drier is on, or the big lights are on rather than the table lamps etc. It also tells you how much you are spending per day and what that equates to each month.
Of course we don't know how accurate it is, but it certainly gives us something to think about because we are aware of what we are using at any point in the day. the monitor is in our lounge so there is no ignoring it!!
Mind you, it is really scary when you are cooking dinner in the oven, with the washing machine, tumble drier and dishwasher all on, in the evening with the lights on............. I can now see why my bills were so much higher when I was working from home!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Hiya Hypno
I see you're busy as usual! I think we could all do with one of those monitors. My two are finally realising they need to turn lights etc off though it's my dh who's the worst! I came home tonight and most of the lights were on, the cd player in the kitchen was blaring and the radio upstairs. Grrrrrrr.....I went round turning everything off! I'm getting obsessed! Hope you have a good week and enjoy your colouring in on Friday xx0 -
I like it at the end of the evening when I turn everything off before I go to bed.....seeing the electricity usage drop right down to almost nothing is very satisfying.

I would LOVE one of those monitors and I know I'd spend hours watching it.
We are very good at turning lights off, watch very little tv and don't leave it on standby etc etc, but we still spend £50/month on electricity. I suspect the computers.....Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

the thing is though, that the monitor has to be plugged in..........sort of makes a mockery of energy saving :rotfl:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0
