Hiya Hypno, I've been searching for ages, but can't find.....
You posted earlier about how you tally up your bills acc, and I thought it looked really useful, but now I can't find it! Can you run through it briefly again

Welcome back JCD - I have just posted on your diary! I hope you are well and now ready for debt busting big time!!
Shaun, sorry I missed your earlier post. I am really pleased everything is good with the baby, and I am not surprised you are both shattered! Make sure you look after yourselves as well as the brood x
Sarahneedle - it is basically:
a) Bills/debts still to be paid
b) current account balances
c) money in the overpayment account
d) money I am expecting in before the end of the month
e) emergency funds
So every day I list each amount as above. Then I do
b - a if that is a positive balance, then I am happy - I know that there is enough there for bills to be paid. If that is a negative balance, I then have to do (b+c) - a to see if I have enough in the current account plus the overpayment account.
If I am still short, I then obviously look to d) to see what is coming in before payday, and whether this needs chasing up, or whether it will come in too late to be of any use.
Finally, and only in emergency, I can use anything in e).
It really is that simple, but it is keeping me on the straight and narrow. If the current accounts have enough in for the remaining bills, then I know I can use the overpayment money that comes in (ebay, mystery shopping, etc) to go off a debt.
As for the bills account itself, I do a running monthly total but in reverse, sort of. So I know at any point in the month what I still have to find.
Eg: (my month runs from 23rd because that is payday) for my debt account
Date....Payee........................amount.................still to find
23rd HSBC...........................£170.00................£1390.43
29th Barclays.......................£460.38................£1220.43
1st Egg loan 1....................£193.74................£760.15
......Egg loan 2....................£422.75................£566.41
11th Legal & General..............£50.00.................£143.66
17th Halifax.........................£93.66..................£93.66
So, at a glance, I know that if I look at my accounts on 27th month, I still need to have £1220.43 in that particular current account to cover the remain debt payments.
If I look at the accounts on 10th month I still need to have 143.66 in there to cover the remaining payments. Because I can easily see what I still have to pay, it is much easier with the accounts notebook to see what I still need to find from expected money in etc.

Shaun, apart from doing the stuff that desperately NEEDS doing today, why not give yourself a day off to recover! Spend it with OH and the kids, just mooching around and drinking endless cups of tea or something.
The grass and the car can wait a day or so.
My DS was a hungry monster (still is) and I felt as though I too was feeding a dozen times a night (probably because I was!). Eventually I gave in to "top up" milk too for the night time and he slept for a lot longer. Might be worth having a word with the health visitor if you have any concerns over his sleeping.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Hi Hypno, hi Sean
seems that everyone who has a new baby lets all the ordinary jobs go, they just have to. 200 years ago, 99% of us were right by our extended families, and mum and dad didn't have to do it all themselves, and thats the way it had been for thousands of years. As things are today, sleep is the only thing that matters!
Since the mini-hypnos are a bit older, hypno, you have other priorities, of course - thats interesting to see your post above describing your system again, wow! And your £86 a day is ahead of target at the mo!
The level of control in doing all that daily is amazing. I've started using quidco regularly, but must try harder.... today is a bit of a domestic day tho - I want to do some actual baking today - spent quite a bit on treats, which are definitely not part of the grocery challenge.
Have a good one, whatever you're doing.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Morning you two!
Today (well, just as soon as they have made their packed lunches) I am taking the children to race camp - they are there all week, coming back daily so lots of running about to do. Cue two tired children as they work so so hard when they are there (and so they should, it costs £200 each, so I want my money's worth!).
Then a bit more catching up with stuff......coffee drinking, making conversation with OH as he is not at work until later, doing menu plan for the week and the like. I need to catch up with surveys as I haven't done as much as I should for a while.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Hi Hypno, sorry I'm just being nosy, but how did you catch up on your £86/day thing since this time yesterday? I think you were £4 down last time I looked and now you're £25 up!
Shaun - reading your posts is bringing back memories of those early days with a new baby... my youngest two babies both they started sleeping for longish chunks of time at about 6 or 7 weeks old. Just when I was about to kill them or myself through exhaustion!
