Want to switch from BT Broadband. Advice needed.

Can anyone advise me please. I've been poring over the articles about switching provider but have got myself very confused.
I currently have a BT landline and BT broadband. We have Sky TV too, if that matters! I'm on Broadband Option 1 which costs £45.93 per quarter. Our quaterly line rental is £46.68 for the Unlimited Anytime Plan.
I'm trying to work out if it would be cheaper to switch over to Talk Talk but can't seem to get my head around the comparison. Has anyone looked into this recently or can anyone advise me please?
I'm not currently tied in with BT.

I have just renewed my contract with BT, they currently have an offer on their option 2, £10.95 a month and you get free weekend and after 6pm calls at no extra charge.
I also renewed my BT Option 3 broadband and it cost me £3 a month less, have had a higher broadband speed activated and was given a brand new home hub and hub phone free of charge.
My issue is as we can only get BT on our exchange, we would still have to pay the line rental to BT, so for us it is cheaper to stick with BT as effectively on our landline we are only paying the rental, all of our calls are free. As for our broadband we would still pay a line rental so although there may be cheaper providers for the service would we lose out because they dont maintain the exchange? I know that with BT we have always had excellent service and engineers have been out to us within 24 hours, from the horror stories I have heard that is not always the case with other providers.Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -
I would always suggest that the first step is see what's available. Check out the Samknows site availibility checker, pop in your number or postcode and you will find out all the providers at your exchange. Look at your current phone bill what are the costly calls, when are they made - you need a package that hits these costs hard. Cheapest options are usually LLU providers. The downside is that if you then want to switch again later, a BT line would need to be reestablished then BB order made which can mean upto 14 days without BB. For comparison purposes, not necessarily a recommendation. I have one of the older TT Anytime packages with inclusive BB (surfing @ 7.1meg:j). Cost is £19.49 pm all in. Calls to mobiles add around £5pm. Happy.0

Yep you will need to know who is in your exchange so put your details into sam knows or into

and see what comes up. If you are having no issues with your current BT ADSL then you should have few issues with other providers. Obviously if you have Sky or O2 you now have 2 choices at least if they are in your exchange. Both are good (I use Sky and a friend uses O2) so its basically toss a coin time if they are you 2 main options.0
