Energy price tariffs

Please bear with me as new to site. Am taking Martin's advice and looking into capping energy bills. Currently with Eon and have a gas tariff of 4.209p for first 1143Kw hrs. Capped tariff is approx 5.34p(inc. vat ) for first 650Kw hrs. Extrapolating that out I work that to be about 9.4p for first 1143Kw hrs.
That seems to be over 100% hike. Am I missing something or can anybody else confirm these figures please.
