My boy is now a man dog. How much is neutering?

Harley has finally started lifting his leg to piddle. Yay!

I was beginning to wonder if we had the only gay dog in the village as he always sat to pee just like a big girl! :rolleyes:

Anyway we were advised to not get him neutered at the usual time because he was so nervous etc but he's beginning to get a bit bolshie now so we're considering it since he's lifting his leg.

I'm not rushing into anything but what kind of costs are we talking about for neutering please?

had my boy done when he was six months old about £150. if i remember rightly although they id chipped him at the same time.

no problems at all running around as normal same night!

Hiya we had our labrador castrated yesterday ..
we live in Hampshire it cost £130 thats with the aftercare and a recovery pack to ....
thats a check up 2 days after op and then again 10-14 days after for removal of stiches his buster collar 3 tins of recovery food.

He went in at 10am and we had a phone call at midday to say it was done and everything went fine! we picked him up at 5pm ..

hes asleep at the moment bless him and a lil sore!

Is he going through the bolshie teenage stage? Cos neutering wont "cure" that - its a stage all dogs go through and the only way out of it is back to basics and letting him know whos the boss.

Neutering shouldn't be seen as a "cure" all. If hes getting distressed around b1tches in season or half killing himself in his pursuit of b1tches in season then yes go ahead as in that case neutering will work. But if hes just a gobby teenage - training is the only way forward.

As to how much, most vets have a sliding scale - dependent on dogs weight Mine cost me £90 4 years ago (cocker who was neutered because of his distress around b1tches)

ours last week cost around £115 pound for op and painkillers and check up after. i think it deoends on weight due to the amount of anasthetic too

I just wanted to say we had Bosun done because we dont want to breed from him and wanted to do the responsible thing, stop any "accidents" if he gets out or runs off to hump at any point! ...

he doesnt distress himself thro the urge to get to females but he does hump when saying hello siomtimes.

our clinic it went on weight under 35kg it is £130 and over 35kg was £159

I've just rang my vet as my lil boy is 6 months today

£100.00 for the op and the buster collar. (assume after care is included too)

and he is the 'small' dog range thats Bristol

Although i may wait for a little longer as although the humping has started the cocking of leg hasnt

max didnt !!!! his leg until about 18 months but we had him neutered at 6 months.

My bichon didn't lift his leg for ages either - he was quite an effeminate puppy! I had him neutered at 7 months and he's still bonkers and tries to be a "dominant" boy dog sometimes (he's almost 4) - humping my arm when I sit on the floor. I think its a dominance thing rather than a s*xual thing though - I'm in his space.
He also still loves lady dogs but is just fascinated and doesn't try to get amorous IYKWIM!

It costs £120 including all of the extras. He was up and about as normal the next day - I think its the anasthetic not the op that gets to them.

Got mine booked in for Monday morning after finding my sofa shredded when i got home this afternoon.

£100. is the op and all that goes with it.

What vet do you use Paparika? My dog is 19 months and I need to get him done, keep putting it off due to cost.
