you're welcome pania....
it's funny that's twice in 2 days i've been able to help someone with a real question! someone was looking for the formula for % of income.. and i knew it... i was very impressed with myself... (i know snags, all in a days work for you!) couldn't believe they OP wasn't inudated with answers...expected 12 people to get in before i'd finished posting it...I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
afternoon all!
just back from work.
thankyou for all casting your votes in whichever way you chose for the last time today.
I found out this morning that Buffy's mum has withdrawn from the competition. I knew she had asked her non-MSE friends to not bother voting when she posted on the DFW chat the other day and she has now withdrawn altogether although votes cast for Buffy are still counting because of the way the poll is set up.
I went over to the Comping Inn this morning as I didn't feel she had to withdraw - seems a bit extreme and I pointed out that for the last 3 days there have been no direct links but plenty of people were still voting for both of us, it seems she just gave up though as soon as he went ahead. Even this morning since being at work, there have been over 100 votes cast for Charlie - without any direct links etc so it was more a case of keeping going rather than giving up without seeing it through.
You can see her thoughts over on the Comping Inn (and my response!)
As well as all you DFW peeps, I will be saying a big thankyou to my Mum - she is a regular on a non-MSE forum for crafting somewhere out in internet land and all her friends have also been voting. I've also been rallying friends on email and facebook and one of my Mum's friends even set up an entry on her blog asking for people to vote for him - she has friends it seems in America and South Africa who are big crafting fans and also now big Charlie fans!
Seems sad that the end of the competition has been soured in this way, if I hadn't have made up that 80-100 votes or so gap each day when I was behind, I would have just said 'well done' to the eventual winner and I would possibly have entered again - or put a portrait at the top of my Christmas wish list!
So, THANKYOU and as long as there is no last minute rush of block voting a la Eurovision there will be virtual jaffa cakes all round"Stay Wonky":D

BB - I've just read the explanation of why number 16 was withdrawn - it seems like sour grapes to me.
Yes, you unintentionally broke a site rule, but stopped the second you realised you weren't allowed to post links to the referrers board (she was very ungracious in not accepting your apology, and is talking as though you are continuing to break the rules).
But crucially, you didn't break the rules of the actual competition, so her emailing the person running it is just petty.
If she is claiming 'unfair advantage', then she should perhaps think about the advantage that she has had over all the other entrants, who probably aren't members of internet forums where they can request votes, and are therefore relying on non-internet friends and family, and 'passing trade' (if anyone wants to dispute that advantage, the poll results speak for themselves really).
It seems to me that the battle was still on while number 16 was ahead (which it was at the time of you posting the links), but now that Charlie is ahead, suddenly it's soooooo unfair *stamps feet*.
And the little quote from one of the other posters on the thread (about number 17 being 'so obvious blah blah blah') was actually just downright nasty."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250
