After four hours I have managed to change to NSC Fixed price 2009 with SP.
I so hope that I have done the right thing. Is there a cooling off period?
Thanks for your help and good luck!

Is it really worth switching? In my area, the electricity prices are miles higher than OLE4, and the gas is far higher for the first 1143 kWh/quarter (but the same thereafter).
I'm not convinced.0 -

I'm not convinced.
I'm with Atlantic Electric and Gas, looking at my last bill for Gas the price was 2286 kwh at 3.020p and 6030 kwh at 2.150p, with Scottish Power it seems to be the first 4572 at 4.725p and then 2.883p per kwh after that. Seems to be a big difference in price there! And electric was 364 units at 12.32p and 1815 units at 8.76p , scottish power is 19.011p first 900kwh and 8.665 per kwh after that. Huge difference in the higher tariff there , with the 12 month anniversary refund that Atlantic E&G do (due in December for me i.e a refund of one months payments = £90) I'm not convinced switching would be the best idea for me0 -
YAY!!! Managed to fix with online discount and no SC!
Good luck to all who manage!0 -
just signed up, transferring from British gas.
hopefully this will represent a saving as changing suppliers is usually one of the most painful experiencesam i right in thinking we get the rate t the time of connection so if scottish power raise prices within the next 4-6 weeks we could be paying considerably (35%) more still??
thanks0 -
As an existing customer, I also had problems logging in but if you are patient, it works. However, I made the mistake of entering my new meter readings before trying to change my package to the capped 2009 online dual fuel one. I got this error message:
Sorry, we are unable to change your service package right now as we are processing a change to your payment details.
You may have requested this on our website or by telephone. Alternatively, we may be reassessing your monthly payment amount if you pay by Direct Debit. If so, you will receive notification of this by letter.
This may take up to two weeks, after which time you will be able to change your service package.
Alternatively, please click here to contact us by email.
I duly clicked on the contact us bit, and got a form where I have asked them to honour the request to change as follows:
I am seeking to change my current dual fuel package to a 2009 online dual capped energy package but I got a message saying you could not do this because you were processing an invoice change. All I had done was enter my up to date meter readings before seeking to change my package. [Electricity: xxxx, gas: xxxx]. The message said I had to wait two weeks. I trust you will honour this as a request to change this to this package when you have finished processing my meter readings. Please confirm.
I do think their online systems are pretty efficient - I got an immediate emailed copy of my complaint and a reference number straight back, and a promise to deal with it in 2 working days. I've previously found they do observe that so if you cannot get through, and you are an existing customer, do try emailing a complaint to them when you eventually get in....
I'll let you all know how I get on.0 -
I am a current SP customer and tried for ages to access the site but just managed it about 5 minutes ago (23.40 ish) and managed to change to 2009 capped NSC with online discount deal. The site seems to have speeded up again now so may be worth a try!Jane

100% correct, you will pay whatever the prices are when you join are what you pay, so if they say go up in a week thats the price you pay.0 -
Persevered with Scottish Power website and finally signed up to the fixed rate. Hope I've done the right thing0

so chances are we'll be no better off than those on the 2011 British Gas cap.
Surely Scottish Power (and others) will follow suit with their price rises inside of 4-6 weeks0
