Hi

I have decided to get a mobile on a contract after reading much advice on here. However when I come to enter my details most sites state that they won't take a SOLO card.

I am sure I used my solo when I got my last contract phone.....am confused!!!

  • I had a very difficult time getting one using a Solo card (eventually gave up), so I got a supplementary credit card from a family member (in my name) and then I had no problems at all getting a contract mobile.

In theory i think solo cards should be fine for contract phones, problem being i guess though that not all sites except solo cards.

Also it could depend on if you have to pay up front for phone cost or anything, if its just the monthly line rental this would normally be done via direct debit and not actually using your solo card number. But i see no reason why if they say they except solo cards why there should be any problems.

Its to do with retailers having problems or incurring additional costs on their merchant accounts.
Often you will find many retailers not accepting solo / visa electron / american express

orange wont accept solo as a proof needed for a contract because since think its 2003 you dont need to be credit checked to get a solo,
theyd just accept a passport or driving license or something like that

but im assuming your talking about web but i dont know if its for the same reasons
    Yes Your Dukeiness :D
