Faulty monitor

Hi guys, I have posted about this before and have sent the rest of the following post to my local TSO, but just wanted to post this here to see if anyone else has been in the same boat as it were,
I purchased a brand new computer monitor from RedRat computer fairs at Don Valley stadium on Sunday 9th March 2008 for £145 from a trader known as RSO Computers, 21 Ada Street, Burnley BB10 1RS - website https://www.rsocomputer.com.
The monitor is faulty. There is a 3 year warranty card with an exchange at home guarantee, however the warranty company do not accept the debit card sales receipt as an adequate proof of purchase. I have contacted the seller via his mobile on lots of occasions, and each time he promises to email and post me a copy of a satisfactory sales invoice - which he doesn't.
I intend to go to the next computer fair this Sunday, but the seller may not be there. Are the organisers of the fair liable to sort out this problem for me ? If not, what can I do other than be stuck with a faulty monitor !
Thanks and best regards,
Musicboy

I wouldn't have thought the organisers would be liable any more than if you were returning something to an Argos store in a shopping centre and holding the shopping centre owners' liable. Your sales contract wasn't with the them. It was with RSO Computers and any action you want to take would have to be directed at them specifically, since they're the ones legally liable under the Sale of Goods Act."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Fair point.
I will have to see what TSO say then, although the problem I have of this 'valid sales receipt' is sticking with me a little bit because isn't a bank statement valid as a proof of purchase ? Yet the warranty company aren't having it.
The only option I have if they aren't there on Sunday is to accept that I've been ripped off and buy another one elsewhere or to visit the guys house - then what lol0 -

It can be but it all depends on the circumstances. If there's nothing other than an amount and who you paid, then it doesn't really prove it was the monitor you bought. The manufacturer may have their own requirements for what constitutes proof for the warranty. After all a warranty isn't a consumer law but a legal contract written out by the manufacturer. In terms of consumer law, it's the retailer that's ultimately responsible for faulty products. The warranty (if there is one) is in addition to those fundamental consumer rights."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Looks like I'm buying another one then from a reputable source ! See how I get on with it on Sunday.
Anybody else had a similar problem with computer fairs ?0 -
Why don't you contact them via their website? They can easily email a receipt to you.0

I doubt email would be any better: " I have contacted the seller via his mobile on lots of occasions, and each time he promises to email and post me a copy of a satisfactory sales invoice - which he doesn't.""She is quite the oddball. They are just basically fobbing me off. In the end, after several phone calls, I said 'right pal one of us is taking the other for a ride and I know it's not me' and still nothing ... no point threatening anything is there. !!!!!!s.0

I think you need to do the moneyclaim thing online (sorry I cannot remember the link), will cost you £15, but at least you have a chance of getting your money back
I have to say, I live near there, and have never heard of this company, when I was looking for a PC recently, and asking a few people where to go, that was not a name that was mentioned, (so obviously no glowing reports from them)
Also as you are under 6 months, unless it is trade, why will they not take the item back and replace?0 -
At this stage i'd be forgetting about the warranty and be chasing the seller for refund or replacement of the faulty item, and by chase i mean taking him to the small claims court. He has obligations to you that he's not fulfilling.Bought, not Brought0

Nice one, thanks folks, I will definitely do that if they aren't there this Sunday, cheers.0
