I'm on Click Energy 1 at the moment for both Gas & Electric
Currently paying:
Gas
5.490
2.302
Elec
17.878
9.350
Moving to Capped til 2011 would mean paying:
Gas
7.259
3.688
Elec
24.131
11.309
Think I'm going to wait a while before making a decision. Those increases would be pretty steep - 60% on the 2nd tier for Gas. I've called BG and been told the standard rate won't go up again for the next year, plus my Click Energy will always be below the standard rate (which is what the capped level is).
Only problem might be when my tariff goes up, the capped 2011 might be closed to new customers, so might end up paying even more :eek:0 -
Why are you still on Click Energy 1? They're up to number five now!0

Am I just being stupid but what is click 5 ect. Sorry to ask a silly question but I just find all of this so confusing0

i predict BG being the next firm to go under, with many customers just giving up and not paying at all.Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
Seeing as Centrica announced profits of £1bn:eek: today I can't see that happening.0

I cant believe the overheads for running all these private companies and paying shareholders a profit is more efficient to the end user than a nationalised energy supply company.
When the Utility companies were sold off to the public(called Sid!), Harold Macmillan likened it to "selling off the family silver"
Whilst the anger at the rises is understandable, BG's parent company Centrica profits declared today are approx £60 for each of BG customers even if you assumed that BG were their only source of income - and they are not.
So if Centrica and BG between them made zero profit, and paid no dividend to its shareholders it would lower average bills by less than £100.
Ebico are a no profit company and their prices are no cheaper on average than the big 6.
It is world energy prices that are the problem I am afraid.0
