I have just tried comparison sites & also got some confusing figures. It seems the best way is using Kwh instead of monthly DD payments. Although I had all my previous bills, it is very confusing. Let Npower do the work me thinks, so I rang and queried my lastest DD increase. The very helpful lady quoted me my meter reading form 1st June 2005 and the recent one from 1st June 2006 and even gave me the usage figure in Kwh, job done !0

Energyhelpline? Pah! After a successful switch of both my gas and electricity supplier, completed in December 2005, I am STILL waiting for my 2 rebates, totalling £25.
I e-mailed them 3 times to prompt them, and whilst receiving positive replies, nothing has materialised. I have now resorted to a complaint letter- wonder if that will get me anywhere.
I have also asked for compensation for the chasing that I've had to do- I'll let you know how that goes! The most frustrating thing is to see them being mentioned as top of the MSE list- not in this house I'm afraid!Won Mulberry Bag Jan 090 -
Hi,
Does anyone know the details of the current cashback offer with Simply Switch? On their website it says 'up to £60 cashback', but when I click on the link for more details it doesn't work. I tried ringing but was told I need to wait till CS are in tomorrow.
Thanks.0 -
It's OK I've answered my own question, managed to get through to them on the phone today. It's up to £60 because you get £15 for switching gas, electricity, home phone and broadband.0

I would like to make a more educated decision on moving my supplier than merely how many bedrooms I have. I am looking for a site that gives me the cost per unit of gas and electricity (including the tiers if applicable) so I can do some correct calculations myself. (Powergen told me £60 PM and now its £129 - luckily I took the figures with a pinch of salt but its time to start looking around again)
Thanks

Go to https://www.ukpower.co.uk, then do a comparison and when on the results, click the annual cost for each tariff and it will give you the individual unit rates used for each tariff.0

Beware when using Simply Switch they have refused to pay the £15 for switching in March this year alledging that I didn't go to their site through Martin's site. Of course their is no way I can prove that I did, but how else would I find it? Hopefully we are making a big saving anyway compared to Powergen and BG, but that isn't the point. If they offer to pay and then don't!!!
Upadte 18 July, they have reconsidered and quickly sent a cheque for £15. So I will give them the benefit of the doubt perhaps they made a mistake, not many companies reconsider and pay so quickly.0 -
cheapie_claire wrote:We used energyhelpline in May and they mistakenly told us that we could save £50 year by changing over companies. By the time they realised that they had got it wrong, it was too late to stop the transfer. We are still trying to sort out the mess that the energyhelpline caused by erroneously transferring us, and it has been a nightmare. I complained and eventually got £30 back from them, after pointing out that they would have got money anyway from the new company - £40 I believe, read it somewhere on their website. Big deal, I am still having to make phone calls to both our original company and the other one. To the chief exec of energyhelpline, if you are reading this - thanks a bunch for causing us no end of hassle.
To all others, steer clear unless you want them to cause you a big headache!0 -
after 18 months of trying to change supplier after my wife met a scottish power seller at our local supermarket, we are now N Power customers. unfortunatel where we were paying 8p day and 3.6p night per unit respectively we are now paying 15.6p and 8.3p under NPower, much less than if we had kept our original supplier... but hold on thats a !!!!!!! big hike by any yardstick, are all the utillities peeing in the same bucket? sounds like Alistair Campbell has been working for the power generators since leaving (sic) the corridors of number 10..
anyway i have now employed a contractor to bypass my meter whereby our metered usage equates to our old monthly payments.

Hi all
there is an organisation called Sutherland Tables (https://www.sutherlandtables.co.uk) which produces comparison of domestic fuel costs, bi-annually, for regions in UK & Ireland. So if you have, say a 3-bed semi in the Midlands you can determine which fuel is the best for you to use, either gas, oil, solid fuel etc, and will tell you the best provider of said fuel, if you have a choice
You have to pay a subscription if you want the information, but most local authorities, government bodies or energy advice centres should hold subscriptions and be able to tell you the most cost effective fuel for you, for free.0
