Quote ``She"is a stones throw away from my level of intelligence", high praise indeed.``
Bet she is pretty darned impressed with that!
Yes, I get a wry smile from that one, and the other "You're looking more lovely every day, eventually you'll be as attractive as I am. But not quite yet."
You see, she has a sense of humour - something sadly lacking from many of the pompous, self-important, self-agrandising posters on this board. Still, old DD is here now to take them down a peg, and thank goodness for that!Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)

lol, thanks pob. At least you get me
!!!!!!? and the rest are so far up their own backsides all you can see is their feet. They feel their 'message' is so important and so serious that each of their posts should be accompanied by a drum roll. They dislike having their pomposity held up to them, so club together against poor old DD.
The bullies! I leave the MSE Housing boards every night in floods of tears because of their highly intelligent posts full of their cutting and ascerbic witticisms.Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)

DD I can dig out the post where you referred to non buyers as lacking bottle if you would like.
Your narrative minds me of a neighbour. His kids knew thier place alright, he always made sure of that, erm until that is, they got old enough to bite back. You see, he didn't win them round, he just bamboozled and bullied, which of course is'nt the best manner in which to imbue respect.
It's akin to informing your 2 year old they are christian - wait a minute, did I have a say in that thinks the tot.0 -

Actually DD, the truth is that you have a history of trolling around the MSE boards (not just this one) picking fights with posters.
I can't help but suspect that all your accusations of personality traits against various posters are little more than projection of your own unwanted traits onto others.--
Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.0 -

I suggest you enrol on one of the many English language courses that are available from your local colleges. They're free as part of a government incentive to raise literacy levels in the UK. After reading much of your uneducated drivel as 'mewbie' and as 'squatnow', I'd say you qualified.
I'd suggest that in future you PM your abuse directly to me rather than subjecting the other forum members to your foul language.
Here's a link for you: http://catalogue.learndirect.co.uk/browse/sfl/English_Courses/
Good luck with that.0 -
In agreement with all the other posters here - whilst out today, a long thread in which Dithering Dad trolled various female posters - Lizzie B or somesuch was one, can't remember the rest - popped into my head. I suppose I am just one in a long line as Dithering Dad vents his problems with confident women.
He is not alone - there are some other stone-age men who post on here who regularly attempt to patronise female posters (my personal fave was adrock and his 'is it your time of the month?' which must surely feature up there along with 'do you come here often?' as things men are supposed to say but never really do, surely?). Sadly, the dinosaurs - people who describe full-time mothers as 'housewives' and address strangers as 'little lady' really do exist, as Dithering Dad has proved; mercifully, I have never come across one in real life as I mix in rather more educated - not to say mutually respectful, polite - circles.
Like I said, I feel for your wife, more so if she is banned from internet forums and the company of normal adults by you. Poor woman.0 -
I have to say that I enjoy posts from both carol and !!!!!!? By and large I broadly agree with a lot they say . As everyone knows I am an old property bear( bit like a silver back) with no axe to grind as I own my home out right and I have no investments, as far as I am aware, in property.
Sadly property ownership, or lack of it, has become fiercely debated with very high emotions. This is understandable. I get real p-ssed off with people my age saying that the youngsters are far better off than we were. Total BS in my opinion.
Here are some examples if you care to induldge me.
I and most of my friends mothers needed not to go to work. That`s an excellent start for a child. School was very disciplined. Ouch, I can still feel the cane I got for not doing well in a class test.(Maybe that was a bit ott). I think you get the picture tho. Standards were high in discipline not just at school but at home as well. All makes for a decent start.
Not very bright kids left school and were able to get employment right away. I had free further education with a bit of a top up from Dad but many I knew had a full free grant. Excellent!
My wife and I got our first home in the 70`s. Had to pay a deposit but I had a great income from playing in a band at the weekend so we used that. I never did teach, what I was training for as ill health had put me in hospital for nearly a year but I was able to use that skill later in commerce.
There was wage inflation and promotion for us. Different times.
I find it a total nonsence that working people on an average wage can`t buy a home. Btw, I don`t suscribe to the idea that if they manage to stretch themselves with a mortgae they will still spend £10k on furniture.Having said that I know a few young uns that have ,lol.
Sure it`s not a right to be able to buy a home but I know very few in the 70s and early 80`s that couldn`t afford it. I find the selling off of council homes a disgrace and that should have been fully re addressed. I also think that in the 21st centuary the thought of someone else paying of your mortgage is totally unfair and inequitable. When I hear the ``it`s my pension `` brigade sounding off I often wonder what they think their tenants will do for a pension.
No, I have seen the best of it.0 -
Dithering_Dad wrote: »Sorry, I'm not aware of your part time work. It never ceases to amaze me how people on forums feel so important that they expect everyone to know all their doings. You're not famous carol.
I suggest that if you're struggling to find time for your dusting and other housekeeping chores that you spend less time on MSE spouting your half-baked financial ideas compiled from the Daily Mail, et al.
You owe it to your hubby to provide him with a clean and tidy home, he's working all day for you. Go on, run along, little lady.
I'm a housewife DD - that is until october when I become retired! lol
I'm also vicariously famous as my son is a comedian and writer and is appearing in the Edinburgh Festival - I would say So There, but I won't as I have to run off and do the washing up.
Also DD, my half baked ideas mostly come from this site and links therefrom. I'm having to type this very quietly as my lord and master is watching Top Gear.

I'd bake little cakes and have cold beer waiting for when Mr Right came home.
I wouldn't.. Fortunately, my Mr. Right doesn't eat cakes or drink beer anyway. Just as well, really....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
