Unsatisfactory experience with Phones2UDirect and GreasyPalm
On 26th September I bought a Nokia phone for £54.49 from Phones2UDirect over the Internet. The GreasyPalm "click history" records a click onto the site by me on that date about half an hour before I got the e-mail receipt from Phones2UDirect for the phone. I am certain that I used this this link to buy the phone, and didn't open the Phones2UDirect page again from somewhere else before buying. The GreasyPalm website states that there is a £12.50 cashback for purchases made with Phones2UDirect.
Today, 30 days later, I had not received the £12.50, so filed a ticket with GreasyPalm. GreasyPalm responded:
"I'm sorry to report that we have been unable to track this particular item and the retailer concerned has not logged the sale as coming from GreasyPalm. As a result we as a company have not been paid the sales commission for this transaction and as such there is no cashback to share. Sorry!"
I think there's nothing I can do but warn you all that you may not get the cashback you expect if you use Phones2UDirect through GreasyPalm

Hi Mr Ulph,
I have investigated your complaint and can confirm the issue was not with our tracking.
I can see from your order that you purchased a Sim Free handset. Greasy Palm is an affiliate on a network that we only pay commissions to on contract handsets and not Sim Free.
I have visited the Greasy Palm page that carries our link and can see that this information is not provided by them and I can see why you thought you should be paid the £12.50, I also understand why you would think we were with holding payment based on the email you received from Greasy Palm.
I have taken up your issues with Greasy Palm and will forward any reply
Whilst we take every care to ensure our affiliates are advertising the correct information on their site we do have many thousands of affiliate pages with our links and to check each and everyone is impossible.
I hope from the information I have supplied you can see that phones2udirect are not to blame for the confusion and I hope that the service you received from us with regard to quality of product delivery and customer services was satisfactory.
If not please get back to me directly.
Regards
Dave Ellis

OK, looks as if Greasy Palm is to blame for not making things clear. Their website says nothing about not getting the cashback unless you take out a contract.
Service from Phones2UDirect and the phone they delivered have been absolutely fine.0 -
This is a question for anyone with experience of cashback claims from Phones2UDirect on a contract phone (mailorder if your reading this a comment would be appreciated).
RE: Cashback. From their T&C states:
"On 12 month contracts, cashbacks valued over £50 will be paid in 3 instalments, one third of the cashback at month 6, one third at month 9 and the final third on month 12.
N.B. For clarification the 6th month’s invoice is classed as the first invoice you receive on or after you have had the phone for a period of 180 days from the date of connection. The invoices for month’s 9, 12, 15 and 18 are therefore those you receive 3, 6, 9 & 12 months subsequently.
To claim your cashback you will be required to send us your original invoice from your network for the month you are claiming for, which must be received 14 days from the date on the invoice (inclusive)".
My question is with regard to the first invoice which you need to send on or after 180 days mentioned above. I signed up on 3/12/2005 and my first invoice should arrive mid month (say 15th). 180 days from signup date is 31/5/2006
Sixth invoice should land on the floor around 15/5/2006 (before the 180 days). Therefore will the 6th invoice be sufficient for the first claim? Or will I have to send the 7th bill and then add on another 6 consecutive months (resulting in 13 months sign up rather than a 12 month overall period). Keen to know which is the correct approach as if you miss the first claim (need to claim with 14 days) you cannot claim the 2 subsequent instalments.
Will be trying to clarify this with Phones2udirect . If anyone has any experience of claims please do advise. Thanks in advance.0 -
I've all but stopped using Greasy Palm. It was good at the beginning, but even though I had the tracker installed, things that I bought didn't go through. I couldn't be bothered to contact them because it was a while before I realised.0

Thank you for the clarification but surely the responsibility is yours. I agree it would be impossible to monitor thousands of affiliate pages.
It would, on the other hand be simple enough at your end to display the relevant information to customers who have arrived at your web site via an affiliate link.

I have much sympathy for rbulph.
I have to say that GreasyPalm in my opinion are absolute pants. They didn't acknowledge a single purchase that I made through their site and customer service was appalling. They made me wait months before they'd even investigate my complaints.
I now use another cashback site instead and haven't had a single problem..

I agree with these posters - Greasy Palm are rubbish I had more than £50 of cashback pending for a year!!! Others I use are fine though.Stop looking for answers....
The most you can hope for are clues.....:)0 -
Guys, I'm sure some referral sites are more efficient than others BUT the way I see it is down to the RETAILER to make it clear what deal you are getting.
So ... when you click on a link from quidco/greasypalm etc and arrive on the retailers website, you should get a message along the lines of:-
***************
Welcome to <name of retailer, eg. phones2udirect>
Thank You for clicking on our affiliate site <name of affiliate, eg greasyplam>
Click <here> for our promotional terms & conditions.
Thank You for shopping at <name of retailer, eg. phones2udirect>
***************
Thats what I want to see when I click on a link. When I place my order I also want the name of the affiliate on the order document.
Come on guys it's not rocket science.0
