    Oh dear...
I can only accept paypal if you have money in your paypal account balance – I cannot accept credit or debit card payments as I only have a personal account.

Update: I warned the seller about the perils of paypal funds payments and she's changed all the listings she could. Hopefully she won't get into any disputes with people on the ones she couldn't change.

    It's against the rules.

I'm wondering what you happened to type into the search box in order to "stumble upon" this listing ........ I suspect it wasn't "dried pears" !

Yeah, I did wonder who precisely they were basing the comparison on

Harks back to the old days of "That's Life" when every week someone would send in a "rude" looking carrot (thing is, it was just a normal carrot........ they all look like that !!!) :rotfl:

That rule is fairly well hidden among the mountains of information which few people actually read in full. I know I was surprised recently when I discovered the existence of this rule (and I found out on this forum, not on eBay itself). I'm not even sure whether that rule was there when I joined eBay back in January, or if it's been introduced more recently (as seems to be the case with ebay.com). I certainly didn't read through every single help topic before starting to sell: I only read those which appeared, from the titles and the headings under which they were listed, to be most likely to be relevant.
I really don't have time to read every topic on every website I use just in case I discover something important in an unexpected place, and I expect to be informed of any important changes, rather than reread all the information every so often just in case they've changed something when I wasn't looking.
If eBay expect sellers to be aware of and respect this rule, they should make it clear.
A suitable way to do this would be: if a seller with only a basic Paypal account selects Paypal as an accepted payment method while listing an item, as soon as they attempt to proceed to the next page, a screen should be displayed warning that they are only permitted to mark the Paypal box if they are willing to accept all Paypal payments, including card funded payments.

Ain't I glad I have nothing to do with ebay...
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.
