    I remember the breadcrumbs, but he called them something Italian which meant 'poor mans parmesan'. Thanks CQ, off to the kitchen.....

    If I remember correctly, he didn't cook the carbonara sauce, just put it into the pasta pan over the pasta to warm through. So not for pregnant women!

    I didn't see the programme so no idea how he made it, but it is quite usual to let the heat from the pasta actually "cook" the sauce when making carbonara :)

    I think that you have to keep stiring the eggs when you put them in with the pasta otherwise you get scrambled egg, I think that the idea is that you keep the sauce moving so it coats the pasta and the heat of that gently cooks it.

    If it's any help, the new book for the Jamie's Great Escape series is on sale in Asda for £9-96, (RRP £20) which is the cheapest I've seen it.
