The Never Ending Story

My light Bulb went out yesterday
went out with O/H and ended up spending another £100 on the CC (didn't really need to)
Think the problem is we keep justifying to eachother that what we are doing is ok, because I'm doing Overtime and He's doing Overtime etc etc etc and thats how we get ourselves into trouble
I'm so stoopid sometimes it's unreal, but I'm not feeling as guilty because we had a really lovely family day together and we loved treating our boys.
How do I curb my ludicrous spending sprees?!?!?

Hi Toffee
have just read your thread and think you're doing really well:T yesterday was a blip but today you can get back on the debt free wagon!
try leaving the card at home or hiding it - some people freeze them so they can only get to them in an emergency!
As someone else said - try the Old Style board for advice on lowering your shopping bills and cooking from scratch also theres lots of help with all sorts of money saving and everyone is really friendly!
good luck!Do what you love :happyhear0 -
Ok, my son saved me from another spending spree yesterday by having a tantrum in town...so thanks son
Today is our proper Lightbulb day...it's the day DH gets paid, so the day the belt tightening begins...and wow, what a difference.
So our total income this month is 1742.28, of which 1548 is for bills and our monthly shop. So it leaves us 193.28 left over, we have given ourselves £10 a week each for our own vices (him baccy, me nic nacs from the bargain shop!) and then that leaves 113.28, we decided we wont need money for odd bits of food in the first week, which leaves us £37.76 (a week) for the last three weeks to spend on the necessities. the great thing is this:
- I've overestimated on all the bills
-I've paid £100 off credit card instead of usual £15
-I haven't counted my child tax credit payments (£16 a week) so I can actually save that if possible and then I will have a bit of money at christmas to spend on the boys.
What you guys think of this....I can take the bad with the good so tell me how it is, am I being unrealistic?!

i think that sounds like a great start - try it and see, the first month will be a good test.
we normally have a c/c bill that we pay off every month - but we still have to pay it and never have any money left over for savings etc. again, its a few hundred pounds normally on ?what
now i have taken a great b/t deal on it so we can't spend anything on the c/c! it's hard but it's great as i can say no to OH without feeling guilty - ie. it's not my decision/choice it's out of my hands. so, this month will be a little tight, but come next month we should have spare money to save, pay off the mortgage and also a much smaller set amount of 'treat' money that we will have to decide between us what to spend it on.
try putting the credit card away somewhere x0 -
yeah, we was thinking about cutting it up, but its good to have for emergencies, but my husband idea of an emergency is a game on sale in HMV!!
So I'm thinking of hiding it.....but I have a thing about honesty and I can't keep anything from him!!!

Hi Toffee if you save a thread you don't need to search for it. Click on thread tools near the top of the page and subscribe to this thread then when you want to come back to it click on 'User CP' which is also near the top of the page and you will find all your subscribed threads. Hope that makes sense.
