Three refusing to cancel my contract

Ok so my contract was nearly up with three and I wanted to cancel the contract. However when I phoned them I was pressurised into getting an upgrade. I phoned back the next day to complain about the person and to cancel the upgrade because I was not happy with the phone or the price. The person I spoke to took my complaint and offered me a much better phone and the same contract only cheaper so I decided to go for it. However after considering the contract I have decided that I not longer want it and phoned up today to cancel it. After being transferred four times and on hold for over half an hour I was told that I cannot cancel my contract because once you exchange the handset you are no longer eligble for cancellation. If the person had of told me this in the first place I would not have taken the exchange.

Someone please tell me I can cancel this?!

This looks a done deal.

(They are wrong to say you cannot cancel, as there are provisions to cancel early, but this would involve early trermination fees which you probably won't want to pay).

You could try writing to cancel, and see if they accept it.

Wouldn't the OP have a legal entitlement to a 'cooling off period'?
