Hi,
I hope someone can help. My son has tried to play CDs/DVD's and all of a sudden these will not play. Can anyone tell me what could be the problem and how I can put it right. I am afraid I am not very good with computers so a simple explanation would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks in advance
Michelle

Which operating system are you using, and have you installed all the latest updates?
found this link which may be of help

It sounds to me that the disc drive is broken. If it is a PC it should be cheap to fix (most DVD Writers/Readers only cost about £10 now .. just check https://www.ebuyer.com/) how old is the drive, have you tried putting in a blank cd? Does it make a spin up noise? Does it make repeated noises that sound like its trying to find something but it cant?
Try to create a new user account: Control Panel > User Accounts then make a computer administrator account and try to read dvds using that account (by going to Start > Logout then login using new account)0 -

Take a screenshot of the error message mentioned above by pressing the 'Print Screen' key at the top right of your keyboard then open Paint and go to Edit > Paste then save the image as a JPEG (File > Save > File Type JPEG) then upload to http://tinypic.com/ and post the link0
