Moving flat, needing broadband advice

Hi, this is my first post, so please be gentle with me!
I'm moving to a new flat this week & need to get broadband installed.
Do I need to setup 2 contracts...1 with BT for line rental, and 1 with the ISP for the internet?
Never done this before, and the flat doesn't have fibre-optic option!
Thanks in Advance,
Colin

Colin that is correct, you'll need a line with BT and ADSL provided by a broadband provider. You could also go with an "integrated provider" such as Talk-Talk which essentially takes over your line and you pay them an amount for line rental and internet.
To see what options you have, use Sam Knows (http://www.samknows.com/broadband/checker2.php)
Not sure if you meant Cable when you said Fibre-optic, but Virgin provides a home telephone and internet option.
Hope that helps, shout if you need more information.0 -
if the flat doesn't already have a BT line, you'll need to either get BT to install one for you, or make another provider install it (such as TalkTalk). Whilst I wouldn't touch TalkTalk, they will probably tel you you need BT to do it, then they will say they will move you to them.... don't... because if you paid BT to install the line, you'll be contracted in - and would then have to pay BT contract cancellation fees
