Came on the market in April 2008 for £199k, today price is slashed to £149950. I am REALLY sitting on my hands with this one, it's close to my work (a college, so handy supply of lodgers). Why such a slash in price though? Surely the vendor would have reduced earlier to sell if desperate, or could a vendor suddenly become desperate overnight?
Please persuade me NOT to even arrange a viewing, though a 4 BED for this price seems too good to be true (which means it probably is)?

I wonder if they have building regs for the loft conversion, if not then really it's a 3 bed.
still probably worth you having a viewing at least
and yes, vendors do become desperate overnight sometimesIt's a health benefit ...0 -
You may have hit your own nail on the head - was it bought by mum and dad to house offspring at your college, said offspring has finished course and they want to offload now rather than deal with the hassle of trying to rent it out next academic year to fund the ongoing mortgage costs (bearing in mind they probably can't get a good BTL deal).Adventure before Dementia!0

someone else might nip in- i would make an offer if you really want (nd can afford) it.. say £130-ish?
(you weren't to know its already been reduced, right..?!)Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
loft conversion so it might now be 3 stories and so a fully licensable hmo.
Looks ok otherwise.GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time.0 -
Is it subject to a tenancy?0

Sounds like this house which I am keeping my eye on http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-20783390.rsp?pa_n=1&tr_t=buy
Came on the market in April for £190 000 now down to £169 950. I've been to see this house and fell in love with it only problem bank did not like it! Boo Hoo as it was on a council estate and bank thought that my 10% deposit was not good enough.0 -

Thats interesting. I've followed your experiences on and off and can appreciate that this must be a real temptation. I'd have thought you of all people know the market round there inside out, so would be better placed than anyone to assess whether this is a good buy or not. I suppose it just depends on your financial situation and how much you really want to buy.... As a previous poster as said - you're not to know its been reduced, a 130k offer on an asking price like that is not outrageous....0 -
I lived in Bournemouth for many years, but these days I wouldn't touch Boscombe with a bargepole - it's crawling with druggies and prostitutes. There are some nice areas, but if you are thinking of buying there I think you need to be sure what sort of neighbours you can expect.0

Have you been and had a look at it.
Thats a great price for Bournemouth, although yeah boscombe isnt great but I suspect you know that already... but STILL.
I would go and take a look definately. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
possibly a repo pending or something, only other things is proximity to railway that there is something structural, though that puts whole terrace potentially in the way
I'd have no real qualms that part of Boscombe, I lived closer to the main precinct for a while and had friends with their young family living a couple of streets from there up until last year. If it was crescent/Springbourne side I would have said no0
