Wow, what's going on with this house?

I'm wondering if it's the people who either haven't got the funds (or don't really care what the place is like) who will buy just about anything providing it's cheap.
Lol, my boyfriend is a builder and my fried a plumber, this is exactly the kind okf place i'm looking for to put my stamp on it.
I'm not one to buy something just cos it's cheap, I even stay away from Primark and mend my own socks instead!0 -
Sounds like this house which I am keeping my eye on http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-20783390.rsp?pa_n=1&tr_t=buy
Came on the market in April for £190 000 now down to £169 950. I've been to see this house and fell in love with it only problem bank did not like it! Boo Hoo as it was on a council estate and bank thought that my 10% deposit was not good enough.
Hi Sealady,
That's in the middle of the Somerford estate, even dodgier than Boscombe in my opinion (and close to the sewage works). If you're happy to buy in that area then what about this one? http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-17662087.rsp?pa_n=1&tr_t=buy
OR this one http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-21792479.rsp?pa_n=1&tr_t=buy in a MUCH nicer area, though needs a lot of work, inc central heating installed. I considered this one given my bf's trade, but decided I was happy to 'do a place up' but not have major building works going on around me. Plus wouldn't be able to afford the price on this AND the work that needs doing. Shows how slow the market round here is though, it'd would have been snapped up less than 10 months ago.0 -
With it being so close to the AECC I'd snap it up - as a former student there for 5 years, decent student lets (or even rooms for lodging) that are affordable are not the easiest to come by. As a single 5ft2 female I always felt safe around that area both during the day and night - it's not exactly Boscombe Crescent - and the area is certainly much improved from when I was there 97-02. I'd snap it up if I could, that price seems good - but I'd start by putting in a cheeky offer0

Ha ha, does that mean I've probably started a bidding war on this house now? A lot of ppl who know the area are certainly saying it's worth a look at least.0

Hi Fi I saw this property this morning and thought of you, you might as well go have a look. As you say, if the reef is a sucess this will provce to be a very good investment.0

Don't worry, I'm not in the market for a BTL and there are already too many chiropractors in Bournemouth! I'm staying in Yorkshire
Good luck with it all!0 -
Update: Never did get chance to view this house, left two e-mail messages adn one voicemail message with EA, who never got back to me, and finally got to speak to them on Fri to be told 'house is now sold'. ... TBH, sounds a bit dodgy to me, as EA didn't ask for any of my details or if interested in any similar properties (but then they are one of the worst of a bad bunch in Boscombe).0

I wouldn't worry too much the next time you come across the agent he'll be asking if you want fries with that0

If it sounds too good to be true...it usually is.
I'm sure you'll find something. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -

this tactic by some EAs seems to be a lot commoner than people think. i have had a few experiences like these with repocession properties especially the lower priced onesbubblesmoney :hello:0
