I live in Glasgow and I am sure there are hundreds of BS' party experts in the area but I also have friends/family all over the place, if I wanted to get started what or where would be my first point of contact.
Thanks!Berry Delight0 -

I've been a consultant since the end of May. I did my last party in July and have since been struggling to get bookings so I did a couple of fetes and got a couple of ladies interested. One lives in the South east and out of my area and another was driving distance so I contacted her in August but she was going on holiday, then I was ill and then I was on holiday so I called her last week and got her booked in and was extremely excited because at the end of September I'm due to fall off the system unless I make £135! I called the lady last night to confirm the details, only to be told that she's pregnant and her morning sickness has kicked in and its all the time so she's cancelled on me and moved it to November!
I don't give up easily so I called all my friends and my previous hosts but no one is interested. I've done catalogue drops and been told they prefer Avon because their cheaper! I spoke to people where I work and they aren't interested and two of my hosts don't want parties until November time so I'm at a loss of what to do to get my £135. Usually I would have thrown a home party but no one is available and so I thought about buying more for my kit but not £135 worth!
Does anyone have any ideas? Is it worth going to a store and canvasing? Someone suggested retirement homes. I don't give up easily but I really don't know what else to do. I don't exactly have great friends, as you can tell. The next time they want favours they can forget it! lol.
How is everyone else doing? Its nearly peak season so can't be bad!
Go through all your order forms and see who ordered and the amounts, you may find that someone spent alot of money and would reallly benefit from being a hostess.
Again go through forms and see if there was a low spender who was really interested but wasn't able to spend, maybee she would like a party with lots of freebies.
When you talk to them, if they are unable to party, maybe they could have a paper party, ie, you give them the catalogues, they take them to their friends, get orders and hostess benefits.
Always carry books and order forms with you, you can pick up extra orders and parties that way
Contact play groups, charity groups etc, paper party but with the option that they take a certain percentage of sales and you have the hostess gift - stock up on your samples, but gifts for xmas etc
Talk to everybody, you'd be surprised what you can pick up.
When you hostess coach, ask her to invite friends from various circles, that way you have a greater pool of potential hostesses and therefore a greater amount of circles to work at.
Always check out any places of work, and why not O P home, the manager may even be happy for you to go in and do a demo.
Above all talk to your manager and tell her what your doing and see if she can help. Don't forget to offer to cover for anyone who has to cancel, you could email them all and let them know your available.
Whatever else, don't dispair. And GOOD LUCK helen
If you don't know what to say your manager should be able to give you an idea, or may have copies of basic scripts, I always used to use these. And don't forget, it takes 9 No's until your first Yes, so just bare it in mind.
Nearly forgot, if you have a body shop t shirt, wear it when you go to the shops sometimes, I got a couple of good circles going through doing that. You'd be amazed at how many people will become interested and talk to you, a lot of people even now still don't know that Body Shop do a Home party format. Great ice breaker and you'll be surprised at how interested people are,
listen carefully to what they say and point out all the great things about having a party, alsways mention fund raising as well. The problem with common sense is its not very common:rotfl:

Have a look at the first post. There is a list of Consultants and areas they cover. Perhaps you could get in touch with one near you.0 -
Hiya, I've been considering party planning for some time now and the body shop at home has always been of interest to me, mainly because there doesn't appear to be many hosts in my area.
I have a few questions if thats OK, sorry if you have already had these but theres so many pages I just can't get through them all
Ive never been to a body shop at home party would someone mind going through what you do during one?
Also what products do you promote, i'm worried as I'm crap at make up and would die if i had to give someone a make over?
finally how easy is it to join, and does it really make you money?
Thanks in advance X:j6 debts cleared since joining MSE:j:eek: Remaining debts... Very / Halifax Loan/ A&L / Virgin cc / Lloyds / Sister :smileyheaGetting Married 04.12.10 - The MSE way :smileyhea:dance: Making this house a home :dance:0 -

Hiya!
I'm quite a new host, and haven't had many parties yet but basically you tell everyone at the evening who you are & why you do it, you demonstrate various products, whether it's a facial on the host / makeover or just a simple scrub / moisturise on the back of the hand. You answer any questions the customers have, allow them to try your kit, perhaps play some games, help them with ordering...
When I signed up I had a training day where I was taught how to do a facial & a basic makeover, although I'm not sure whether that has changed now?
But there are frequent meetings with your managers within your team of consultants (depending on where you live), and they give you new hints & tips all the time!
But as they say prcatice makes perfect, luckily my first 2 parties were with family!
We promote everything that you would see in store:
Makeup: Lipsticks / Foundations / Eyeshadows etc
Facial Regimes: Facial wash / Exfoliaters / Creams / Facial Masks etc
Bath & Body: Shower gel / scrubs / moisturisers / accessories
Perfumes
Home: Oil burners & home oil fragrances
So, a lot!
I think now the first kit is a pamper one: so it'd be the scrubs & moisturisers etc, so you could train up on the makeup while your doing pampering parties!
It's much easier now too, you do parties with your managers & progress at your pace!
It's really easy to join - my flatmate had a consultant come over to conduct an interview & i ended up signing up too!
It all depends on how much time you can put into it, i don't do many parties as my life is a bit hectic with uni, but i get a good amount of orders through 'party in a bag' like Avon do, and that allows me to continue til I have parties!
Hope this helps - If you can find someone who does it in your area, she will be able to run through everything with you, but it's a fantastic earner for some, plus the incentives are amazing!!

Thanks for the info steph! I looked on the list of consultants on page one and their doesnt seem to be anyone in my area :-( think i may just go for it and contact tbsah.
I just worry that they will be pushy and I will sign up even if im not interested?
I think i would love dong the facials, and bath products etc, just the make up side that petrifies me - haha:j6 debts cleared since joining MSE:j:eek: Remaining debts... They probably will talk you into it, but then it depends on who you speak to!
But you can always say you'll think about it
Also it's great to do fundraisers, i did one last month & got invited back for a christmas one, so it has great opportunities if you put the time in!
25% commission on sales isn't bad!My first 2 parties made me £90!
I'm not totally confident on the makeup, but you can just say you're a pro on the skin care & persuade them to go with that!
Good luck with it, if you need any more info just ask!

Hi, nice to hear you want to go for it! What area are you from? Maybe somebody knows of people in your area even if they're not listed here.
Don't worry, the parties are really easy to do now, so you don't need to do make-overs at all if you don't feel confident, or you can start to do them when you feel ready!0 -
Thanks for the reply, i'm in the nottinghamshire area!
I know you have to book 4 parties (i think) when you initially sign up but do you have a minimum number of parties you have to book after this?
